Interlock Gear System Wont Release

So, I just fixed my DS mode by splicing all my wires, put the car back together, and everything is fine, ASIDE from the fact that when the car is turned on, you must push the interlock system to the unlocked position to get it out of park. It tries to unlock but seems like it's not going up high enough, but drops perfectly back into the locked position when you turn the car off. Anyone have any luck with fixing this ? Any help would be much appreciated.
