Windshield Tint At Top?
After having the lovely fortune of taking a large chunk of truck tire tread to the windshield recently, I've had it replaced. The very reputable collision repair shop that I took it to replaced it and the work is impeccable. They replaced the glass with OEM glass, complete with the BMW logo and everything. However, I can't seem to remember if my windshield had that blueish tint at the top originally. The new windshield is clear from top to bottom.
So, what does your 1 have? Tint, or no tint? And should I even be bothered if it doesn't? Really my main concern is resale value down the road...you know...in the unforeseeable event that I would actually part with this car... That and functionality. |

Yes, our 2009 135i coupe had no tint when delivered.
However, we were hit with a rock from a passing car that resulted in a 4" crack, so we had the window replaced w/ insurance coverage (not installed by a BMW dealer). The new window is tinted at the top, but otherwise is the same as far as I can tell. Having a new window after 7K miles of miscellanous minor chips, etc. was real nice. I like the tinted version better myself. Looks nice. I think a "low rider" like the 135i really picks up lots more window nicks in routine driving compared to my Honda Pilot. |

Thanks for the feedback all. So it looks like it's pretty much divided between yes and no. Sounds like nothing to really worry about either way.
