Speed Traps - SF Bay Area

On my way to work this morning, I nearly got nailed by a motorcycle cop who was hiding behind a gas station pricing sign with a radar gun. I've been noticing a few more speed traps along my route to and from work and thought it might be useful for us to share any known hot spots with each other. I'm not condoning breaking the law but if we can manage to save some of the 1 addicts a few bucks, I'd say its worth it.

For the past week I have seen a motorcycle cop posted along the various side streets along Dougherty Rd. in Dublin/San Ramon between 580 all the way up to Bollinger Canyon Rd.. There is construction going on along the side of the road and a very small sign that requires a reduced speed to 35mph for the construction. The speed limit is normally 45mph but its fairly common for people to drive close to 60mph over that same stretch of road.

If you know of any speed traps in your area, please post their locations and a brief description.

In Sunnyvale, Central Expressway West just past the Fair Oaks exit, a motorcycle cop does laser. I see him once every couple weeks.

I hate laser.

CHP's were also in Berkeley this morning. 2 cars and 1 cycle were stationed where 580/80 meets. In full force huh? Budget crunch/crisis.

Highway 85 interchange to 87 Northbound. CHP always hides behind the concrete wall and nails them right there or on the interchange.

On 580 East past the 680 juncture to about the Santa Rita exit, there's a chance that there is a motorcycle cop on the right shoulder. I tend to stay out of the two left lanes at this point.

Exit off Eden Canyon Blvd, going through East Castro Valley Blvd, there is a chance that there is a cop parked in the 45 mph zone, where people easily go past that due to the small downhill before the blind turn.

omg - i nearly got caught by that one previosly- I accelerated and slowed down as soon as i saw him. He followed me for an exit and gave up.

Also, police hide on 680N at scotts creek blvd to grab any1 who is driving on the freeway there.

yeah but i h8 the way it sticks out like a sore thumb - then again i'm sure it won't be worse than getting a 400 dollar ticket! Again, Im too pussy to drive fast any more anyway - I drive fast for 5 seconds and slow right back down. I just can't afford to get a ticket!

This guy hasn't been there for a couple weeks now, but at the end of the month, expect him to be back.

He parks his patrol car on 280north right at the end of the Millbrae Ave on-ramp. Black hair, tan skin, sunglasses, looks like he chews gum too.
