Dealership scratched calipers
What would you do? ...
I found a bunch of paint chips on my front brake calipers after picking up the car from the dealership today. They replaced the front pads for free (maintenance program) and scratched up the calipers in the process. The catch is they did me a favor by replacing the pads earlier than necessary because my maintenance program was going to expire in 12 miles. The pads were not due to be replaced yet. They did the job as a favor so I feel guilty complaining about the scratches. What would you do? |

Honestly for that little bit I wouldn't fret too much...I mean in 50k miles its not that bad...mine are worse after 29k haha

I wouldn't be REAL upset about it , but I too am pickey about stuff like that. Should not have happened. You may want to check and see if dealer carries any kind of touch-up for them or check the local auto parts store.I've not seen caliper paint in that color, but you may find some exhaust or engine paint in hight heat that would be close. Just hit the chip spors with a small model brush. Would just be noticable to you and that would be up close. BTW I read somewhere on here that the newer pads don't dust as bad as the older ones.Let us know if any truth to that. Good luck

Just get some paint that matches and you'll be golden!

I have some of the same chips, so subscribed to see if anyone has suggestions for a good heat-resistant touch-up paint that matches.
Cheers, Bryan

The old pads also squealed really really badly. New ones haven't had any issue. I think they were replaced around 60k kms, early 2011.

My service advisor offered to have a small amount of paint made for me so I could touch up the calipers. Looks like they don't sell the silver caliper paint. I haven't picked it up yet so I don't know if it will work.
