NEW 330xi with 10 miles! Has low oil level!
How frustrating! I suspect it is an oil sensor problem. Anyone else hear of similar? Oil level read 'normal' when I took delivery.
Oh, hi everyone! I'm thrilled with my newborn, but it tears me up. 330xi 6MT Blk Sapphire/Blk leather, SP, ZSP, ZCW, Sirius, rear spoiler It didn't inspire confidence when I dropped it off at the dealership and the service rep said 'of course it has a dipstick'. I wish we had access to TSB's. I found a similar problem described elsewhere. Solution is not to add quart after quart of new oil - very bad for the engine; I tried to emphasize this to the other, more knowledgable rep who knew that there was no dipstick. It's good to be here, after many months of hand-wringing. |

there was another member that just got his car and engine oil went low because they forgot to close the oil cap. what is TSB? and why is it bad to add new oil to the engine?

Will be interested to learn what the service department determined the problem to be. I will also be interested in the explanation for not adding oil, when low, of course. A TSB is a technical service bulletin. If the oil filler cap were left loose, you should get a check engine light and the car would likely run rough. You would likely get oil on the top of your engine.
