Nope, licence is all that's required. Passport is only required when coming from outside the UK.

Is car insurance a consideration?

I assume our policy's should be ok?

Majority of insurers do cover as they consider it as driving in the UK, but you never know some insurers might not, so best check with yours. Insurance should and must also cover the journey between land masses in the UK, so if our rubber dinghy sinks, we should be ok.

Cheers, I'm with LV with company fleet so will check details just in case!

It should say something like this:

"Territorial limits
This policy provides the cover described in your schedule in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and during journeys between these places."

Impromptu visit to the Highlands instead if that's the case?

I think the Hardknott Pass, York Moors, Dales and Pennines would be the alternative. I already have routes. Highlands is a bit far up.

Marcus, will the cars be in the hull or exposed on deck?

Both, so we should arrive early. We should aim the leave the service stop no later than 12 as we'll all need a fuel stop before getting to the port and there's a Shell along the way. So maybe, we should meet at 1130 onwards.

Shane has a double bed all to himself. He could vacate that and sleep on the couch and you could have it.

But cheers, will most definitely enjoy it and will try to stay safe when driving, hiking and eating.

We are all on Facebook that's why it's quiet. Shane will be creating an invite only FB page for all our future excursions.
