All true but the first bullet. I've owned black, pebble metallic ash (kinda like a sand or gold), silver, and now white. White is just as bad as black to keep clean. But the fact that you can't see scratches swirls is awesome.

Actually, besides the subjectivity of this topic, the one thing that's for certain is that white is the HARDEST paint color to match. The easiest is black, and then everything else in between. Metallic colors are difficult as well due to the flakes.

Best bet is one of each. :-)

I've got a grey metallic 3 and a white 1. Love both colors. Don't know if I could pick a favorite.

As far as keeping them clean, the easiest, by far, is our Desert Sand Mica Tundra. NEVER looks dirty. Sure wouldn't want that color on my BMW, though.

My 2011 Wrangler is Mango Tango. It stays relatively clean looking. I always thought it would look great on a Bimmer. Similar to VO, but more coppery.

I was down to those 2 colors and went with the AW. I just liked the look of it in white and how white cars match up well with CF (not that gray doesn't match well).

In the end, its your car and get the color you like best. I'm sure this debate could go on forever.

I had SGM on my 335, but decided on Cashmere Silver for the 135. I get compliments all the time. Doesn't show dirt and shines like a banshee.

I personally just went with space grey, and couldn't be happier.

We had an m5 in space grey and the color was brilliant when all polished up, but looked equally great when dirty. Its a great color imo.

Then again, I am one who never even considered white, and always see white cars as a blank canvas waiting for someone to paint it. I am also someone who engine blew up with less then 100 miles. My .02.

Just had White C63 and loved how good it looked and it is way easier to keep clean than black for sure. I have had several black cars.

I just bought Space Grey more for a change of pace, but actually like it better on the 135i.

I prefer white and it was a pre-requisite for me. However white is certainly the most popular colour. Only yesterday I say 4 1 series coupes and all were white. Something to think about.

Go white and save yourself $550. Besides, you won't have to run the AC as much.

I was considering both. They had them side by side at the dealership and I went with Alpine White. I feel Space Grey is the most beautiful color and Alpine White is the best color. Here's why:

1) AW is free
2) Whether AW stays cleaner longer is up for debate (I think it does), but AW looks the same clean or dirty. Space Grey is gorgeous when clean, and bland and invisible when dirty.
3) AW is impervious to car wash swirls, Space Grey (or any metallic) is more difficult to keep looking pretty.
4) AW is classic BMW.

The thing I've noticed about AW is that if you ever have to have anything painted on the car it will never look right.

While I think it looks good, AW is boring. Perhaps that's just because my last cars have been white. But what I can say is that I thought having a black 1er would be impossible to keep clean but it looks far better after multiple thunderstorms than either of my white cars. So the "easy to keep clean" argument doesn't really work for me.

I don't mean this in an offensive way, but you must have extremely low standards when it comes to a clean car, because a black doesn't need more than 1-2 drives after a detail for you to start seeing dust/particles/dirt all over it...forget about a storm!

I didn't say that it isn't dirty or that you can't see water spots or dirt. Of course you're going to see something... I'm just making a simple comparison: drive either of my last two white cars through a storm and it will look more dirty than my black car driven in the same conditions. Doesn't mean that I won't clean any of them afterwards.
