Is that +20/+32 at the WHEELS or at the engine?

Most of the time, mfg. power ratings are at the engine, after driveline losses, that +20 doesn't amount to much...

This is a very important question. If it's N54, which I think is very doubtful because all the mainstream 3 Series models switched to N55 for 2011, this seems like the same engine tune in the 335is.

If N55, which makes a lot more sense, this is the first "tuned" version BMW is offering of that engine (in the U.S. at least -- I don't know about other markets). Then again, the reported gains in power are identical to the tuned N54, so this is all very confusing.

$500 for a near 7% boost in horsepower and 11% boost in torque, all under warranty and supported by the dealer? Yeah, that's a fair deal.

If I had recently purchased a 335is, I might be a little miffed right now...

Really sad to let the E90 model go, I think E9X 3 series deserve the E46 reputation.
That will happen when everyone sees the F2* and goes
The old one (E90) was so much better.
Pretty know factor these days, it happens with every new model it seems, the older becomes a classic and people like what they are used to.
No doubt E9* was a much better car than the E46.

Isn't a JB4 less then $500, Giving like 30% gains? Just doesn't make sense to me to buy it, when after market options are much better.

Warranty has never been an issue, since you can swap out, and they have tuner code delete.

So...a little pissed that I take delivery tomorrow if my E90 335i and couldn't order this from the factory, but hopefully the dealers won't mark this up too much for a retrofit.

I think the price will be different for 2007 to 2008 335i due to thier MDS80 box, I think they have to use the newer MDS81

$550 plus labor may put it in the same ballpark as the Cobb accessory port, which you can uninstall on your way to the dealer and provides slightly better gains for stage 1....

If I leased my car, I really wouldn't give a shit. By all means, throw all the tuning codes you want, give me the most amount of HP for the least amount of money. I'll even let it ruin my HPFP a few times.

But those here that own their vehicles and don't intend on giving them up every 2 or 3 years may want something that is from the manufacturer, and will be backed by the manufacturer. Will Cobb, Shiv, or Burger replace my engine or turbos if their product causes harm? No. But BMW NA will (prob. Dinan too).
Well said. I am a fan of both aftermarket and OEM, but where an OEM solution is available at a fair price, I always choose OEM. The durability testing is there with OEM - it has to be else BMW would have no business case for selling BMWPerformance parts since warranty claim costs would outweigh sale revenues from BMWPerf parts!

And, for "full cost accounting", when you factor design testing and validation, durability, warranty coverage, peace of mind going to the dealer (meaning not having to "prep" your car for a dealer visit by removing an piggyback engine harness, clear codes, etc.), and resale value (aftermarket mods are not something you generally advertise when selling your car as it makes majority of potential buyers walk away), the price BMW charges for most of their BMWPerf parts is very competitive if not superior to aftermarket solutions - especially for those of who daily drive our cars and need it to be reliable for a 2000km trip at the drop of a hat. Examples: BMWPerf suspension, BMWPer exhaust, BMWPerf short shift kit, great-fitting body kit, etc.

Personally, I am hoping this kit is available at a fair price in Canada as well and that it offers some noticeable benefits in throttle response and higher-rpm power delivery. And will there be a stage 2 variant of the kit with additional hardware such as larger oil cooler or brake cooling ducts, a la the N54 BMWPerf Engine Kit?
