Carbon Fiber Interior Trim Kits

Hi all,

Checking if any LHD members have ordered this carbon interior trim kit for their car? Can you report on quality of the kit (fitment, weave, clear-coat etc)?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Carbon-Fi..._qi=RTM1714243

I have been in touch with the Ebay seller to manufacture a RHD kit for those of us in Australia, the UK etc and they have agreed to commence work. I will keep you posted as I hear more and the kit gets closer to release.

Good looking kit.

I can say that the BMW performance CF trim is pretty good... that is, other than the middle strip that runs across the dash. I've had terrible gel-coat failure on that thing to the point that it needs to be replaced. It isn't cheap.

May consider this vendor for a replacement part but if it doesn't match with the rest of the kit it's basically useless :/

Aren't these just pieces that go on top of the original trim?

Judging by the poor fit near the top of the radio (look the BMW Professional text) I would suggest they are covers for the existing trim.

Reading the Ebay listing more closely I now think you're right. They do seem to be advertising a 'cover kit'. Ignoring the fitment, I wonder how easy these would be to install, especially for the centre console. Perhaps you could install over the top without having to remove the whole centre console?

I messaged the seller to find out. If its just a cover then I'm not interested at all.

I'm fairly sure you're just meant to use some 3M adhesive tape, just like the wing mirror (non-replacement) covers.

If you all are looking for a solution for carbon fiber trim I can arrange that , my company works with a company that reskins trim in real carbon fiber...1x1 or 2x2 matte satin or gloss pricing is very reasonable...not meaning to thread jack at all OP just providing a helping hand to fellow 1ers turn around time from the time we receive your pieces is around 2 weeks not counting shipping

I really like the soft/matte/textured finish carbon they do on the other models...

Thanks for letting us know. It's always good to have options. I wouldn't mind seeing some photos of the quality.

My preference has always been for a gloss/clearcoat finish rather than matte. Originally I had planned to go the 3M 1080 Scotchbright vinyl but the Ebay overlay kit being far more glossy and very competitively priced caught my eye.

Here are some pics from the production process, they are not complete by any means but you can see how straight the weave is and how it forms around tight radius. these are LH drive 135i and a C63 Will have completed pictures in the next few days as he clears/polishes/seals the different stuff, my 135i will be matte/satin the AMG will be OEM Gloss! The beauty of this is you spec the weave and the directions the weaves flow YOU decide exactly what you want!!

Would you be able to sell a kit without wrapping mine? How much?

I have the nice aluminum trim and want to keep that as a backup or sell it. I'd rather sell this and buy a wood trim to wrap. Basically it'd be a shame to overlay the nice one.

At this phase it is not feasible to keep cores in stock for wrapping purposes as we don't just do 1 specific car or even 1 brand, If you want to purchase some other trim and send it over, that would work If you wanted we could attempt to source a trim set your charge would be the 575 plus w/e the price of the trim set would be.
