I find that button to be misleading, as there are many variable to whether the M-Factory LSD "chunk" that ECStuning sells is for the bolted or welded differential ring gear, large or small "pumpkin", etc. This is related to your tranny type, and Model Year.
This table highlites the options and subtle differences for the pumpkins and final drive ratios ... Master Reference Chart: Several good threads on 1-addicts forum about this. Look at this post ... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...25&postcount=4 and other threads here ... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...C+differential http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...sports+Limited http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...C+differential

All 135i auto's have small bolted diffs as all manuals have large welded diffs. So I'm not to sure what your question is? I bought mine from M factory direct was easy as pie they are awesome guys.

If the above threads dont help you, it is best for you to get in touch with VAC Motorsports, provide your VIN, and let them offer you options then...

Wow congrats to Mfactory for getting that deal & placement in ECS. They're going to sell a lot of units. Great product they have! Need another one for my new 1'er.

Your options are basically: 1) Purchase an LSD unit only, and have a machine shop machine off your oem ring gear from the oem open diff, and then bolted up to your new LSD, then installed into your existing pumpkin. This is normally the most expensive route in the end if you don't have a close relationship with a machine shop, as machining is expensive. Expect to pay around $1k for machining alone. LSD is $1k, spare parts $200, then around $400-500 labor cost 2) Purchase an LSD unit + pre-machined ring gear (with pinion). This is a fully bolted setup with no additional machining required. Then have a shop install into your existing pumpkin. The cheapest route if you have a good shop who can install everything for you. LSD + Ring/Pinion is $1280 (+$500 refundable core fee). Most places probably around $400-500 labor. 3) Purchase a prebuilt pumpkin that has already had the machine work done, and everything installed inside it. Then just have a shop drop your old pumpkin and replace with the new pumpkin. The easiest, hassle free route. Price is $1780 (+$500 refundable core fee). Most places probably around $200-300 labor. No. 2 and 3 are both usually on core exchange basis (i.e send back your old parts to get your refundable core fee back) |
