BMW AccessPORT Calibration Updates!
COBB Tuning is happy to announce the release of revised Stage1 maps for all BMW AccessPORTs. These new v2.02 maps feature slight revisions to fuel, boost and ignition tuning as well as alternate maps with different throttle calibrations to suit a wider range of drivers. In addition, ACN91 (Arizona, California, Nevada) calibrations have also been added to support users in these states using the blend of 91 octane fuels particular to these states. Throttle Mapping Based on user feedback, COBB Tuning has released 2 versions of each calibration with more linear throttle mapping. All maps are available with standard throttle mapping as well as the new v1 and v2 linear throttle mapping. The v2 calibrations offer a more aggressive accelerator pedal feel and may be more suitable for 6MT-equipped cars. The v1 calibrations are less aggressive and may be more suitable for automatic vehicles, however, both calibrations are safe to use on all transmission types. Map Revisions Boost levels, fueling and ignition timing have been revised to improve performance and reduce ECU intervention over driver inputs. Torque and load limits have also been altered to allow for significantly increased power levels over stock. The speed limiter has been raised to a maximum value of 198.4mph (ECU limit). The rev-limiter has been raised to 7,200RPM for 91 and 93 octane maps, only. ACN91 Mapping ACN91 octane calibrations have been added to further support users in Arizona, California and Nevada. These states use a specific blend of 91 octane that has been shown to perform below standard 91 octane. Users in these states are strongly encouraged to use the ACN91-specific calibrations. These newest calibrations are available right now from the COBB Tuning BMW Map Database. For more detailed information on maps and revisions, please consult the BMW Stage1 Map Notes or call COBB Tuning at 1-866-922-3059. |

I downloaded new map to my computer, plugged in AccessPort and hit, highlighted new Stage 1 93 standard map for 135i and get message saying the map doesn't match the vehicle the Accessport is installed too, am I sure I want to copy this file to the Accessport?
What does this mean, I though maps were simply downloaded and ready to go? Never mind, I downloaded the wrong ecu version. All good.

Sweet. The car has so much power now, a little more fluid throttle would be great. I just ordered BMW Performace rotors and Cool Carbon pads to help slow down a little. Now I am going to need some suspension upgrades. Things get a little squirelly at high speed.

So I installed the updated 93 octane map with the V2 Throttle calibrations. It feels much less responsive down low with small inputs of throttle versus the previous 93 octane map, which would make the car jump when I tapped the throttle and had a nice torquey feel. This map is much softer down low then the power comes on in a huge rush. Feels like I have to push the pedal down much more to get the same torque. Is this how it is supposed to feel?

This is very much appreciated. Im extremely glad to see Cobb trying to satisfy their current customers by finalizing stage 1 before moving onto creating more customers by concentrating on stage 2. Sorry dudes, but you'd want the same. I would think stage 2 is only a couple months away now.
Quick question. V1 and v2 revisions aside, what has changed in the regular 2.02 tune compared to 2.01? |

I'm assuming the higher rev limit is there for autocrossers, and perhaps to a lesser extent road racers. It may keep you from wasting time shifting into 3rd for very brief periods or hitting rev limit.
Also for drag racing the gearing leverage change from 1st to 2nd may mean you are quicker running 1st way past the normal power band. Usually the rest of the gears are close enough that you want to shift soon after power starts to fall. Thanks, Cobb! I'm going to give the new throttle maps a shot. |

So, how do I download the new maps. I have just updated my accessport and the only maps that I can find are the 201 maps. I currently have the 200 map installed on my car.
My accessport is telling me that it is up to date but no 2.02 map. What am I doing wrong? Never mind. I fiqured it out. Last edited by Lambobimmer; 04-28-2011 at 05:40 PM.. |

Ok, so I switched from the v2 throttle calibration map back to the straight stage 1 93 octane map and the throttle response is much better! Much more "peppy". The v2 map felt like a standard turbo car feels, kinda laggy until you get into more boost, then it kicked in hard. The standard stage 1 93 octane map does feel improved over the previous version as well. It actually seems to have better throttle response and seems smoother overall. Still no traction in 1st and 2nd though! Haha! Great job Cobb!
