Question Care and protection of Matte CF?

I did a search and came back with a lot of ways to care and protect standard gloss carbon fiber, however I can't find a good answer with regards to matte finish carbon fiber. I currently have a icarbon deck spoiler and diffuser and really want to make sure that it stays nice for a long time. Is there a particular product or method that anyone can suggest. Right now I am just washing it as normal and using a quick detail spray on it.

Thanks!

-Jeff

Just got this back from iCarbon customer service..

Hey Jeff!

The Matte Carbon is clear-coated just like glossy carbon, with the only exception being that the clear-coat does not reflect.

Just like Matte paint, you cannot wax Matte carbon, just regular soap and water is perfect. You can use some quick detail from time to time, but soap and water is perfect

That pretty much covers it – let me know if you have any other questions!

Best Regards,

The Sales Team

there ARE products for Matt paints and finishes

Hey Jeff
you should look into the Swissvax Opaque line
full car care product line solely dedicated to matte paints and finishes. perfectly SAFE and guaranteed not to turn the coating glossy - even over time.
Product line has been developed a few years ago for the likes of Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini when they started selling matte finishes.
All the Swissvax Opaque products are completely oil, fat and abrasives free.
There is even a wax that will actually protect the matte paint and make maintaining it easy. And the quick finish is great to have around all the time. will get rid of contaminants and greasy fingers and all that.
Somehow there is very few people (and manufacturers) that seem to be aware of the existence of this unique product line!

I've never heard of it before. Thanks for the link! That will definitely be on my list of detail products.

First and foremost, take into account that just because someone sells something doesn't mean they're an expert on upkeep. There's no car dealer that understands car care like a pro detailer or maintenance like a master mechanic for example.

I'd recommend using a product like Optimum Car Wax. The product is actually a spray sealant (no actual wax) and has UV ray protection, which will be key to keeping the carbon fiber looking great for years to come. Nearly any wax or sealant will be fine to use on the matte finished weave, but I recommend you to use the product above for it's additional UV protection - something most products don't have.

Excellent, because I just hosed them down with the Optimum wax spray the other day with great results!
