Swap OEM heated seats in car not optioned with heated seats

Hello

I have sourced a set of heated seats the same color as my interior (coral) from a local wrecked 135i. The donor car is a 2012 and mine is a 2011 that does not have heated seats from the factory.

What is the feasibility of swapping the heated seats into my car? Is it as simple as bolting in the new seats, swapping in the dash section with the buttons, connecting the wires between the two and maybe have some coding done to enable them? Has anyone done this before?

Sorry if this has been answered already. I did a quick search and found nothing definitive, and I need an answer quickly as the donor owner needs to respond to the insurance company asap.

Thanks

Bump.

Anyone also know if you could install just the driver's seat? The airbag deployed on the passenger seat of the donor car.

Try contacting your local BMW dealer. Or maybe BMWusa.. can't think of anyone else who would have the answer, don't know of anyone who has done this.

Dash is easy to swap, just make sure you obtain the part for it. As for the seats, the heated portion has a separate wiring harness that you have to connect directly to the fuse box. Same thing goes for power seats. If you want a clean install, then expect to gut your interior. As for coding, I believe you would just have to add the heated seat option to the $VO. I'm not sure if you have to alter any modules. bimmercoding would probably be your best source for coding. As for DIY, I did see a couple DIYs here in regards to manual seat -> power seat swap. It's in the DIY section GL!
