Stock car--starting mods
Hey all,
So I have owned my 1er for a few months now and after driving stock for awhile I feel it's time for some mods. I was looking into either JB3 or JB+ to start. After reading some posts I am leaning toward JB+ just due to cost and ease of installation and less likelihood of triggering codes. What does everyone think? Also I have been looking online and cannot seem to find where I would purchase a JB+ so anyone who could help with that I would appreciate it. |

jb+ just controls boost so its likely if turned up to high that it will trigger codes, the jb3 controls other engine controls and depending on the map u choose can throw them too...depends how conservative u are.

if you wanna keep it conservative, get a jb3 1.4 and run map 1. jb3 has much more control of the car and you car will thank you for it in the long run
also make sure to add some DCI, thats gonna be my first go-fast mod, then after a couple of months jb3 for sure! |

The JB3 is good. But I feel that without supporting mods, such as a larger FMIC, the turbos will die much faster due to the increased boost. The car has gobs of power I would focus on suspension tunning first, and then worry about power.

if you are going to get jb3 i would recommend a larger intercooler and BOV. possibly a new intake? but if you do get it make sure that you get the BT scan tool so that you can delete any codes that it might throw before you take it into the dealership for service

The JB3 is the best bang for buck mod, and kept on map 3 or even 5 if you have 93 octane codes are not an issue. I just had mine in the dealer and there were zero tuner codes and i have run map 5 on 91 a few times.lol The BT Tool is nice to have but not a must if you are not going to run higher maps.

but i do wanna get BMS DCI right away, fairly inexpensive and the sound is sick! love hearing the turbo spooling up. Prob as soon as the break in is over and i get the oil changed stuff that im gonna order before the car is here to have from day one, are gonna be mostly cosmetic like; Performance Pedals and grill. still trying to decide on what H8 bulbs to go w/ then down the line, ill get jb3 w/ the bt scan tool. then eventually a diff intercooler. not sure i wanna do down pipes, sometimes i think i would wanna run an open dump on the wastegate but i dont wanna smell like a lawnmower anymore |

Get JB3 run it on map 3. Then get catless dp's, new FMIC and a intake. Then kick it up to map 7.
You will be running 12's easy with some good tires of course. JB+ can throw codes on 75% settings and up. So, JB3 is safer and more powerful in the long run. I am code free for 5 months, and I have ran map 3, 5 and 7.
