Nothing but compliments for my new 135i...

I just got my 135i on monday, and from some of the things I have read on this site I thought my 1 would be getting dissed all the time. Ive been pleasantly suprised that I have gotten multiple compliments about my car daily... anyone else with the same experience?

Great things said about my 135i even from my buddies at the Dodge dealer. Purchase 5/29/09. This is a great machine!

the only people i see really hating on the 1er is the 335 people, and that's just on the boards, not in person

I get a compliment once a while but the 135i seems to go under the radar mostly. My last compliment was during the bank drive-through, before I pulled away the female teller who was helping me says "I like your car, have a good weekend".

well, I should clarify. i didn't mean ALL 335 guys, but on that off topic thread about the 1er being in yahoo's #1 ugliest car of 2008, a lot of the hate i saw was coming from a bunch of the 3 series guys heh. i guess since they make up the largest proportion of the bmw community it's to be expected

i never really understood why those guys are soo stuck up. i mean you would think they were snotty ferrari drivers. there is one thing about being proud of your car and thinking it is better than everything...

Dono about u all but I've had several people ask (after complementing my 1er) if its the new M3...I then say no and theyre like "really? what M is it" or something along those lines. Then i'll say nah man its a 135i.. and something like a "hmmmm nice" will follow. Fair to say the great majority of peeps out there dont know diddly about cars i guess.

the porsche sales dude who was trying to sell me a cayman s only dissed the 135i saying that it breaks down alot, etc etc. he came to my work place to say hi after i bought my 128i. he only said good things about it once he saw it and sat inside of it and took a ride in it. so i think you have to be in one to become a believer eh?

This happended to me last weekend... I guy asked me if it was an M3! I think it's particularly confusing for those not in the know when they see a debadged 135i with the M-sport package and the M logo is displayed on the rims, shifter, steering wheel, etc.

I've gotten into cool convos with guys in M3s, Audi S4s, M6s.

Although the best one I got was a guy in an old Camry who said, "Hey thats a beautiful car...now get it washed!"

But just wait, the hating will come. I was driving on the highway the other day this guy in an old Jeep yells at me "you fucking jew!"

I still have no idea what he meant by it.

I got a random compliment from a stranger today. A woman in an SUV the lane over from me and about half a car behind yells out to me, "that looks like a fun car to drive." We then carried on a "stoplight conversation."

Made my 9-5 and end of the week feel good.

So far no strangers have said anything but all my friends really like it. I see bimmer peeps all day long but most are in 3er's and they dont even look.
