Smile transition from JDM to Euro - 130i 6MT BSM

Hi all,

so i've finally joined the euros after many years of JDM ownership and dreaming of owning a BMW e46/e9x etc. After much consideration ended up picking up this 130i. Owned this for 2 months now and I really enjoy it!

I've already given the car a detail with a full clay, polish and wax.

currently in the works i'm upgrading to a LCI Professional HU with built in USB and Bluetooth. my car does have bluetooth (mulf2 in the boot) however this solution is much neater!

Here is my current car I will be parting with.

1999 Genuine JDM Toyota Altezza RS200z 6MT

Look forward to joining the Syd community!

Yeah that was early 2011 I think. How's the 130i in comparison to the Altezza? I've always been a fan of that chassis (the is/rs).

Ahh yes I was getting a new clutch installed then! so long ago, I didn't keep that car very long after.

The E87 chassis is great however does flex a bit in comparison to my altezza with a host of chassis bracing. Everything is lighter in the altezza (clutch, steering wheel etc) also the steering rack in the altezza seems much slower. The altezza needs to be revved to get anywhere whereas the 130i will stay comfortably in higher gears for climbing hills etc, a more refined vehicle overall the 130i although they only differ around 15KG in weight (1360KG vs 1375KG)

suspension compliance altezza > 130i
NVH 130i > Altezza
Steering 130i > Altezza
power usability 130i > Altezza
chassis rigidity Altezza > 130i
alignment adjustability (stock) Altezza > 130i
driving dynamics (stock for stock) 130i > Altezza

Cool thanks for all of that. Good to hear the Altezza wins the chassis comparison. Hope it finds a buyer soon.

probably the best part about the car (Kouki Cluster) Although a e92 m3 cluster in a e87 would be absolute pr0n especially with the temp gauges wired up for oil temp!

has anyone had any experience with superpro arms?

http://www.superpro.com.au/whats-new...e93-suspension

considering these as my castor? arms are gone? (that's what the last owner told me)

Nice car mate, do some 135i front brakes, m3 front control arms and sway bar with some coilovers and you'll have a very well handling car mate.

likewise!

so far the only changes I've made to the car:

LCI BMW professional head unit with built in USB/BT as well as additional settings on the head unit. (could be my ears, however speakers now sound better and gongs are more premium)

Some spotting today at Cars and Coffee Woolwich:

visciousgook

small update. I felt like doing something different (more that I hadn't seen it done in the flesh before) and have put a e82/e88 m sport front end on my car. Found this was the best option to get a more aggressive front end the OEM way and now the search is on for a CF front lip

Thanks Johnny.

Some little details required fixing up on the car considering it's almost a 10 year old car there will always be some wear and tear. Jumped online and ordered a new steering wheel badge from Japan of all places (genuine BMW part). Here are some pictures.

further details addressed. When I purchased the car I was told that the castor/thrust arms needed replacing so straight away I did some research and had options of OEM, m3 or superpro adjustable. I decided to go down the superpro route as I like the adjustability. However due to conflicts in Turkey it meant it was impossible to have any goods come from there (5 months later still nothing). So my money was refunded and I went with a temporary remedy of some immaculate e82 front control arms. To my surprise the bushings are slightly different.

Here are some pics of the differences (left e82 LCi 135i, right e87 130i), arms themselves are the same.

enormous difference on center feel which is now more confidence inspiring
