Stock LED tails on Halogen Equipped 12+ models
OK got an LED based taillight today. When fitted to the 12+ car without Xenon package, they function exactly like the regular "halogen" tails. The reason is that the outermost lamp should have a 3rd positive feed to illuminate the LEDs. This wire is missing in the "halogen" model cars. I did manage to tap the + feed and light the LED's but the problem is the car is still sending power to the halogen bulb (which is needed for braking) and the middle and inner position lamps (which are the normal setting for halogen cars when lights are on) There is probably a setting in the Lamp Control Module or whatever computer that regulates the voltage. I don't see this as being a DIY set up at all due to the programming and lack of that extra power feed for the LEDs. Lesson be learned, if you really want LED tails, make sure you tick the Xenon Headlight option on whatever car you order.

yup. they look the same with the lights off, but when on, they are only lit by incandescent bulbs.
