I just picked the car up, so only once for the PPI. I can always do oil changes myself or shops. I am really just concerned for when I need to replace the turbos.

I would hardly call even 1 hours worth of work to install once and remove once worth it for a ~$300+ difference.

Just my $.02

Something else to keep in mind with Dinan or ppk (or giac), is that once you spend that money it is gone forever. You can not resell them as you can with cobb or jb4. And you are pretty locked into the mods that work with the map you buy. Want to add something after, you pay again (albeit at a discounted price).

93 octane. Stage 1 aggressive.

I think the general consensus is, when talking about the basic bolt ons, that cobb and jb4 make about the same power mod for mod.

Based on all this, it looks like the jb4 is the way to go, as long as it can be reverted. Looks like its the most gain/cost.

Jb4 is definitely best bang for the buck. Check out the for sale section here (and on e90post). They often go up for sale. I may be selling mine - still haven't decided yet.

Indeed. I actually just found a great deal on a JB4 and picked it up just because i like some of the gauge options and the quick on/off power. <$300 shipped for a huge gain in power is nice!

OP, here is a good thread to read through.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=820245

You may also want to read the other thread linked in this one. Take it for what it's worth. Bottom line is that there haven't been many (any?) engine failures from either jb4 or cobb when running an appropriate tune.

I'm wondering if that is the case though because our Petro Canada 94 seems to be worse than shell 91. I think it has 10-15% ethanol and I'm sure they add some crap winter blend because of our low temperatures.

Wondering if the 94 here in Ontario is enough for the aggressive map, anyone have some experience on this?

JB4 will never get you 80hp with just the tune on a N55. It may get you +50, if you have it perfectly tuned, but reasonably it would be +30-40whp. I ended up chosing the JB4, it's not so bad to install.

I was looking at the PPK1 but I have a manual transmission and it seems to only at 17 ft lb of torque, which seems like I may not even be able to tell its there? Anyone with a manual have opinions on the ppk? All the reviews I've seen have been from people with DCT or Auto's.

You can try it an log. Post the log here and someone will tell you how things look. 10% Ethanol shouldn't be a problem. Guys in the states are running 85% ethanol mixed in with their gas for loads of extra power.

Dinan is absolutely not worth it IMO. Best bet is the cobb, most gains and you can untune and clear the codes if you have to bring it to BMW, no sleepless nights necessary

DCT has the same power bump as the manual AFAIK. But yeah you will have more torque and probably power with JB4 / Cobb
