Intake leak + why Rob Beck is awesome
So,
Had my car in to look for an intake leak, turns out the rubber grommet for my rear turbo dissolved, and it was sucking in unfiltered air. Closer examination revealed a ton of shaft play and oil seals being toast. Contacted getbmwparts, they had a reman turbo for $900, I ordered it with express shipping. Called them later that day to find out if it'd ship soon. The website states 'ships in 1-3 days!' and had a green checkmark. Turns out they don't stock those, and it'd be a week before it got to their facility. Thanks guys. Contacted Mr Beck of RBTurbo.com to find out if he had a set of upgraded twins on the shelf ready to go. Sadly he didn't, but he had a ton of known good CHRA's which he sold me two for a stupid low price. He got the package out the next morning. So, $370 in gaskets, and a painful amount of labour later, my baby is alive again and pulls like a freight train. So thank you Mr Beck, and I hope others who need to replace their stock turbos keep you in mind as a CHRA supplier. |

How did you knew you had an intake leak? And how did you checked it?
Hopefully not, but I think I might have something related with an intake leak... Boost fluctuates crazily when halfway WOT and I can hear the intakes "swooosh" very weird when that happens, its all good when I go WOT tough... |

Good stuff. You need to tell Beck to start stocking up on those upgraded turbos! He would make a crazy business having them in stock for when our turbos go out. I'm going that route as soon as mine takes a dump

It has been that way for a bit now, but really hasn't made much difference. Not a massive market for upgraded turbos.
