HELP! people with stock D1S chime in!
what's up guys, i remember there was a red/blue mark from a marker on the back of the stock D1S bulbs but can't remember which side (passenger/driver) they went on. can one or more of you guys open up your headlight covers and confirm this for me? thanks!!
EDIT: these are the marks i am talking about, apparently there are 3, red, green and blue Last edited by BSM 135i; 01-26-2011 at 06:58 PM.. |

They're the same. Philips Xenstart D1S 35W 4300K. They both use the same Philips part number: 9285 141 294
the number above that that's different for each bulbs is probably a serial # or something because it's unique for each bulb and has nothing to do with left or right. Don't know why they're different colors, but it's probably some weird ass german organizational thing. The bulbs should be interchangeable and sit the same way in the housing for each side

I meant that the fact that they're the same part number means it's the exact same bulb. Therefore they will look/act/be the exact same no matter where you place each one. I'm retarded so I didn't make the connection that you're taking the car to BMW and they're the ones who might care which bulb is on which side. I'll try and check tomorrow if I can, if I have time. But if you look, I don't think all people's bulbs have those colored markings:

it might be marks from when they passed inspection, I have never seen bulbs for a specific side of the car

Haha thanks guys, guess they're just inspection marks. I know the bulbs work on either side, my original question was asking if the marks where put on a specific side to help the dealerships know if they where tampered with ...
