Is anyone else using H&R OE springs?
I'm having issues with the rear ride height. I'll elaborate after I get some sort of resolution. I just want to find out if others ended up somewhere close to what was advertised (approx. 1" drop front and rear).

What's the problem? Too high, too low? At least you can give others thinking of getting these something to consider.

As Ulrichd said, not many people will have these because they were on back order for so long. If you post up the issue, maybe someone can chime in with a potential solution.
Did you properly seat the springs in the rubber perches? |

I was just looking at purchasing a set of those yesterday, and found this:
http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/BMW-...sllll1ak1uq2l7 They say it lowers the front .75 inches and the rear .3 inches, which is a very tiny drop. Where did you see 1" front+rear?

The specs come from H&R. The front has a tad more than 3/4" drop and the rear is stock height-- higher than stock on the left, and slightly lower on the right. The installation was done by a local German car specialist who I have expeience with. They do top notch work and they are the local Dynan dealer also. I had the rear wheels off to check it out and looked and put my fingers into the spring cups to check fit. I can't find anything amiss. There is a note (12) about lowering height variance with special factory sport suspensions. I have the BMW Performance suspension. I changed back to the stock rear shocks which puts everything in the rear as it comes stock from the factory, then drove around to settle everything and the result is no change. I didn't want to hash this whole thing out on the internet until the parties involved have had a shot at a resolution. I just wanted to see if others had a different outcome. Some people love controversy while others sincerely want to help. Help is appreciated, but please don't assume that bonehead mistakes were made. Ideas have already been tossed back and forth and I have photos of the setup. |

Thanks for the info. I have heard that BMWs tend to sit higher on the left. The driver's weight will then more or less balance the car side to side. If the left versus right difference is just a few millimeters that might be why. Try having the shop do a measure with you in the car.

The claimed drops are all over the place. My Eibach Pro kit is supposed to lower 1 1/4", I am currently at 5/8" to 3/4". I don't mind actually the car looks great but maybe its different for a 128 with sport suspension. I noticed the spring serial numbers are different from the 135.

It is strange how the photos seem to make the difference minimal. In person it certainly is not. News is that there may be replacement rears available. I'll know more later.

yea... i'd be unhappy. call tirerack and/or H&R if you're 100% certain that the install is correct.
i'm still wishing there were a spring that lowered the rear more than the front. the car is already raked out from the factory. i dont want any more rake!!! |

H&R springs tend to have a rake whether you go with the Sports, Race or OE. The OE is their least aggressive spring so you cannot expect too much of a drop. If you are looking for lower, I suggest the Sport springs.

the problem i see is that they advertize a 1" drop front and rear (or is that just tirerack, not H&R?), when it appears that there's a large front drop, and little to no rear drop. the rake is fine for people who are looking for that, but i almost ordered the OE springs yesterday after seeing them in stock at the tirerack, but then i saw this thread, and am glad i didn't! great timing! maybe performance springs are the way to go for me...

Gogud,
Where did you hear that replacement springs might come available? I have a set of OEs sitting in my garage that I want to put on in place of my Eibach springs, but I think I'll wait this one out to see what you and others have to say. This is probably a dumb idea, but would it not be wise to mix and match springs? The Eibachs in place on the rear sit just right, but the front sits too low...low to the point where the front tires tuck under the fender. Perhaps H&R OEs on the front with Eibachs in the back would be a good fit. I know it's a waste of money, but I'm already stuck with boths sets and I figured what the heck. |

Im sure H&R will correct the problem. The same thing happened when the sport springs came out for my GTI a few years ago. The rear sat wayyy too high and H&R later updated the springs to correct the issue.
