Cobb Upgrades?
Owners,
I'm considering adding a few Cobb parts but I dont see much in the way of HP/TQ estimates for the upgrades? I was considering replacing the DP's, intake, intake filter, intercooler and software. Anyone have an ideas what types of gains could come from an update like this? Thanks. Adam |

It all depends on how far your willing to go with tuning in regards to stage of tune.
But, I would say with what you are doing you would be looking at a tune stage 3 415 to 430bhp and about 70 to 100 lb/ft torque increase. |

I saw about a 70hp gain after the V3 install running stage 2 on 91octane. Second most aggressive map. I did an FMIC and downpipes with the install. Id say for gains purposes downpipes would be a great addition to the tune for throttle response and hp. Intercooler is not essential entirely up to you really. If you want to run more aggressive maps as I wanted to than its a good idea. Also consider your climate. Very humid.. high boost.. FMIC is never a bad idea

Well I can personally vouch for decatted gains of around 15bhp and circa 25 bhp with all 4 sets of cats removed

The Cobb website states that their Stage 2 OTS maps require "a turbo-back exhaust", or their high-flow catted downpipes. The requirements are generic for all N54s. Did prior N54 cars run N54 with standard cats in the downpipes? Since we already have high flow cats in the downpipes, and I have deleted the secondary cats with MadDad, could I run a stage 2 OTS map?
When I stopped by a local dyno tuner, that was exactly what they suggested I do. They charge $700 for a full dyno tune, but he honestly did not think it would be worth the money as Cobb's OTS maps are really good and he thought with high flow cats and no secondary cats I could and should run a Stage 2 tune. Thoughts? |

No but my m8 had his done
BMW 1M in for some work This car was fitted with one of the incredible Akrapovic exhaust systems and larger front mounted intercooler before being custom tuned on COBB . The thin dyno graph line shows the standard tune with the Akrapovic and intercooler installed which saws healthly gains (+43bhp/21lbft). The thicker line shows the additional performance available with one of our custom Accesstuner Pro calibrations (+77bhp/77lbft). |

That map above the custom tune, how did things go with an OTS stage 2 map?
I am trying to consolidate my posts, so there is also a question on this in the "Basic Pro-tune" thread. |
