Is the 1-Series Still Orderable?
I thought production was finished in July, but I'm seeing posts about how production just began on forums members cars. Anybody know if the 135 or 135is can still be ordered? Always wanted a 1, and just had a car totalled, so hoping I can still get in on the action. Also, anybody seen August residuals?

The Leipzieg factory where the 1-series is built has the capacity to build multiple car lines at the same time, I believe. So, it could be that new 1ers and 2ers would be leaving the factory at the same time.

Dealer told me in May that October was the cutoff.

Yes you can! YOU CAN DO IT
Think the above posts answer the mail.....but I'll chime in to. Was at the dealer this past Friday. They said you can still order the 135is and that production would end in Nov. I suspect that sometime in Oct they will have to Stop Orders if they want the line to end in Nov... M235 Production begins in Nov. Even though they have the capacity to run multiple lines at the plant - I don't think they would hire they staff to run two lines simultaneously. I suspect that its timed so that as the workers on the 1 series line finish the last 1ers..they will pick up their jobs on the 2 series line.
I selected the 135is - not because I think the 2 series will have issues. But because short of the 1M these last 135is will be the best representations of the entire 1 series. The factory staff that build these cars should theatrically have worked out all form/fit issues, and a tight well assembled car will be rolling off the line. Mine is..hopefully on a truck heading to Northern VA right now!!!!!!!!

Thanks for info guys. From the BMW website I see that the 10K residual is 51% on the 128 and 53% on the 135. Terrible! The 135is is not listed - anybody know what that one is?

Someone said the other day that the August residuals are AWFUL on a 135is, but are typically the same as a 135. So, they went down from 63% for July to 53% for August with 10k/yr. This is first hand info from someone who locked in their financing on July 31 for a 135is and was horrified to see that drop a couple days later.
The website ridewithg.com typically posts all the MF and residual rates though. |

I was at two different dealers over the last few days (one being for a BMW NA test drive event including numerous corporate types) and both said there will be a continued lineup of 2014 One Series cars. They will proceed with little or no changes over 2013 cars. Nobody had a solid word on when a 2 Series car will be available for ordering. As far as the residuals go I configured my car last week (prior to 8/1) and again Sunday (after 8/1) and my lease payment went up over $120 month. I'd say the residuals took a nose dive but that's what you would expect with an end of the year sale. I'm told 2014 production should start up after the end of August and when they do I'd expect residuals to be back up to 61 or 62%. Fourth quarter should also be the best time to lease/buy as incentives should be strongest to boost year end sales. Anybody know any more I'd love to hear it as I'm looking to order a car (must be a 2014 with better residuals) in the last couple months of the year. Lease is up in January and the 2 will never be available for delivery in the US by then seeing as how 4 Series deliveries haven't even started yet and they've been showing that car publicly now for almost a year and we haven't even seen an undisguised shot of a 2.

Yes, your numbers will be locked in and can't go up, but if numbers were to go down, you could take advantage of that too (though doesn't apply in your situation). Did in mine as money factor went down a bit, saving an extra couple of bucks a month using may rates compared to february rates when I ordered.

Oh, I wasn't told it would be labelled a "2" even though it would be unchanged from the current "1" for a year. That's interesting and I'd be quite surprised if it were. Why tie in a new Series designation to an old model? Would think they'd want to start what people will think of as a new upmarket model with a fresh start altogether. I had the impression the 1 Series would just carry on as a 2014 and when the 2 Series was introduced (probably mid to late in 2014 here in the States) it would be a 2015 model. We'll certainly see in the next 2-3 months.

In the Bay Area, I'd say it depends on which dealer to ask! Out of a handful of dealers, only about half said they can still order, and only ONE was willing to help me order the Special Edition 135i. While all the other dealers were like pulling teeth to deal with in terms of special order, Sonnen gave me invoice price after 2 mins on the phone for the 128 and 135, and $200 over for the Special Edition. BTW my order is for a vert so it may be different for a coupe.

I waited about half a year for any one of my local dealers to get one so I can check out the white/brown combination, but no one ever got one! So I just order one and hope for the best. Should arrive in about a month. It seems that none of the dealers really care about the 1 series even in the bay area! Although I do see a handful of them every day in SF. It is the perfect sized car for the city.
