Order time taking much longer than stated
Hey everyone,
Would you try to seek any kind of extra compensation from your dealer/CA for an order that takes much longer than they told you when you placed it? I understand that its not exactly a written promise when they give you a delivery window but I do have to sell my current car and this long timeline is making it difficult. They told me 6-8 weeks and next week will mark the 8th week. As far as I know my car is still at the port in Bremerhaven and has been sitting there for 2.5 weeks. I'm betting the whole process will take about 12 weeks if there are no more long hang-ups.

Good luck with that!
I'm driving a dealer demo 328i coupe whilst mine arrives. She has apparently been in Bremerhaven for a week already, but as it is 100*F here almost every day, I can wait another month until convertible weather arrives. OTOH a 135i LE convertible arrived at the dealership yesterday and I could be tempted to take earlier delivery

The wait sucks, I think you'll get agreement across the entire Bimmerpost community on that subject - I'd suggest you wait it out on your order, you know it's exactly what you wanted, there will be no compromises needed.
I had one car take 16+ weeks (3+ weeks at the dock waiting for a boat, WTF?). The 135 took only 8 - it seems to be luck of the draw. The wait on logistics is the worst, and with you out on the left coast, you are looking at another couple weeks best case compared to Baltimore or NY ports. I'd ask for some grilles, the worst they can say is "NO", and you aren't any further behind than you were to begin with. |

Worra; ASK THEM for an M3 loaner while you wait!!!
i kid, i kid...hope it works out. the truth is, i think that 6-8 weeks is an 'estimate' just thrown out there by the salespeople. In reality they have no control over time.....BUT it might be worthwhile to express your dissatisfaction anyways as i'm sure it will result in something like some free mats or a something! |

Got a reply from my CA:
"I just sent off an email to the guy at our port to see why its sitting there still. I would not try to sell your car until its been on the water for some time. It is 28 days at sea +/- I will email you when I get a responce from him. It's usually within a day or so. I will get back with you." At least they are checking into it I suppose

Sadly, don't think she's going to get you any real answers or be able to do anything since out of everyone's control. You'll just have to wait powerless and pray a lot to get it moving and on a boat. Tis the unfortunate reality. Hopefully yours is at least on TOP of the pile of cars.

"Just got word from the port here in Cali and he said there is a vessel loading that it is supposed to get on. He told me to check the status on Friday and to contact him if its not on that boat. I will update you as well. " So there is a boat loading now? Pretty sure when we all checked, the boats were leaving on 8/31 or 9/7...I guess I'll just wait for more info on Friday.

Worra, tell her for your hassle and much longer wait you want the black performance grille installed by them at the port so it arrives ready to go.
+ Plus about port installed accessories is they are covered under the factory 4 yr / 50,000 mile warranty. - Minus is you don't get to keep old parts taken off Good luck! |

My wait went longer than stated so the dealership bought me a rental car for a week.
