Noob question. Somebody please answer. Can it fail while the car is moving or just when starting?

Yes.........It can fail ANYTIME ANYWHERE!!

It can fail in the morning in your driveway
It can fail on the way to work
It can fail on the way to a hot date
It can fail on the way to dump the dead hooker in your truck.....

you get my drift

So car was running fine. . . I drove it like 700 miles this week for various work stuff. Fine this morning.

This afternoon, I crank it and it runs like shit. I restarte it, it cranks for like 5 seconds, starts, runs like crap, and then gives the reduced power icon.

I immediately calll the dealer to schedule an appointment (a week out, no loaners now) and tell them I will bring it over today in hopes of getting it squeezed it.

I attempt to drive it over, and it dies twice, while in motion, on the way out of the office park.

Then it got the tow truck ride.

So TL;DR: Yeah, it'll die when running and potentially not start.

I was afraid you were going to say that.

What should I do with the dead hooker when this happens? Do some of you guys have another vehicle for dead hooker transport or can I use this car to transport dead hookers until I start getting long cranks?

This is pretty lame--I do feel badly for you all. Completely inexcusable for a company such as BMW. One would expect more than what you all are getting.

I must say that I am not regretting buying a 128.

Part of the justification for the higher price for the 135 must be to compensate for the increased service costs.

I wouldn't mind dealing w/ HPFP issues considering the price of a 135i in the US is almost the same as a 128i in Canada >.>;
