wheel bolts

Just washed my car and realised I am missing one of the locking wheel bolts on my front left wheel.
No idea how long it has been missing for! Just glad the wheel didnt fall off.

anyway, i realised this at 12.15... i.e. 15 mins after the bmw parts closes, so rung around and got some ugly arse ones from autobarn until i can get around to bmw in a week or so, conveniently they only sell in packs of 4 and only had locking ones.

Just wondering is it possible to get the same locking ones as my old ones? and how much should i expect to pay?

You can't buy one, as they are keyed to the lock nut, you need a set of four

I'd be inclined to swap all 4 wheels onto the new key ie buy a set of twenty. Not your cheapest option though.

damn, thought they would have had X number of different styles and you could get the one which fits...

might just get a non locking one then to match the rest. My temporary one is nice and shiny and chrome.

Why would you change all of them?

Twice as many keys to look after otherwise. I've already lost one before and that was a pain in the ass to replace.

Or just buy a set without any lock nut. What's the chance of someone taking the effort to pinch just one rim from you

Not true. I picked up a singular locking nut today from Kings Way BMW.

OP: I realised the same thing last weekend, went to BMW on Tuesday and they had to order one in, arriving on Friday. You can just tell the spare parts manager which number locking nut you need. $20.

edit: if the rest of your bolts are fine, its ok to drive around missing one.

Yup check the key for your security bolts located next to the battery.

Nah just take out a lock nut. At the end of the thread there's the a number for the type of lock nut (teeth count).
I know so cause, Bridgestone over tightned my lock nuts the bastards. I couldn't take it out like many ppl, however I didn't need to weld too. Just punching them out works fine.
