I was tossing up between the Phoenix charge pipe and the ER when I bought mine. This makes me glad I forked out the extra cash for the Evolution Racewerks. Quality is excellent and fitment is perfect.

Blew off again. This time on the other side (intercooler side) rather than throttle body. Guessing I just need to tighten the clamps down even more but who knows... :/ I don't want to crack the plastic. Should've done a pressure test but I don't have an air compressor or the device.

Need more reason? A guy I know had his pop, and send a plastic shard into the belt, which then disintegrated and did a %$&#-ton of damage.

Wondering if I'm stuck with the OE plastic one since aftermarket charge pipes are not CARB legal here in California. I have all my work done at my dealer since they treat me like royalty and give me 15 to 20% discounts on everything.
Talked to my SA about aftermarket charge pipes and she said they would not pass a visual smog inspection because there is no CARB number on them. I guess I could get an indy shop to install an aftermarket charge pipe and just put the old OE one back on when it's time for servicing or a smog inspection, but what a hassle. Checked with ER and Cobb recently and they both said they were working on getting their charge pipes CARB legal. Stupid California and all their rules and regulations.

The latter half of the charge pipe is not plastic anymore. I bought the phoenix racing charge pipe. It's just that there's another plastic tube that comes off the intercooler itself that most people don't replace.

Are these parts available in metal? I don't think I have seen them in metal.

I'm guessing that when they start blowing up constantly people will replace them. |

If I cannot upgrade the other two pieces to metal no point in worrying about them, when they blow up then I will replace them. Weird that only one of three plastic pieces of the same pipe blows up all the time and almost never the other two.

When I finally upgrade my intercooler, will be going with ER mainly for this reason. I don't know of any other intercoolers that do this. Combine with an Injen intake and say goodbye to all the damn plastic from the filter to the throttle body. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 06-21-2017 at 03:42 PM.. |

I would think so, but have not done it so don't know for sure. You can buy the ER charge pipe separately, and they do sell the intercooler without the charge pipe. Sounds like it must match up like stock?!?
