2009 BMW 182i - E82 Check engine light
BMW 182i - E82 Check engine light
HI there Been having the check engine light come on intermittently for the last month. Just had other work done on the car, they checked the the code when light was on, tech at garage connected Scan tech tool to OBD2 and found no P codes firing. Checked it last week too when it came on and again, no P codes. Car runs great! Check engine light was on all weekend when we drove it. Booked the car for this morning, as last week it was on most of the time. When I started car this morning, light was off, drove it for a about 15 min, still no engine light on. Car is running great, regularly maintained, wear and tear items all up to date. Any one have this issue with the check engine light coming on, no P codes, runs great, goes off, then comes on again for no reason??? Help!! |

Is your gas cap tight? Might just be an evap code.
No shakes or anything? My second guess is a misfire, but that'd be kind of obviously, unless it's an extremely subtle one (which wouldn't normally cause a CEL). Did they plug it in with a BMW specific scanner? No trouble codes stored?

Check the vacuum hose at the rear of the valve cover. It's not easy to put back on. The dealer once left mine undone. My check engine light would come on within minutes of driving. They didn't find it until a smoke test was done
