135i Exhausts on 128i

Hi,

There are a couple threads that have some information; however, because it seems like a popular topic I feel it needs it's own thread. There are very few options for us 128ers . Could someone provide the details on the differences between the two and what it would take to fit 135i performance exhaust systems to a 128i?

Thanks,

Joe

you can modify your mid pipe and then you can use any 135i axle back. its lines up as long as you have the right flange welded on the midpipe to make ends meet. its as simply as that. I dont have any experience but thats just from what I read. hopefully someone can chime in that has done it.

Yup^ that summed it up perfect. had a sleeve made to fit over stock mids go up to the flange size that fit up with my AA axle back.

No pics since i can't get under my car easily or often. i had sound clips but youtube deleted everything off of my entire youtube so i lost them. but i can grab more one of these days on my way to work with my gopro again.

Edit: i cut right behind the resonator, and then the 135 exhaust lined up fine. now i can bolt on any 135i exhaust, including a stock 135i exhaust.

Found this http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=Er8D2MXkojE&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DEr8 D2MXkojE the pics at the end were the most useful. I wish there were some more details to what they actually did.

basically what i described above. all axlebacks are the same exact design that need to bolt on in the same way. So no matter what 135 axleback you go with, you're gonna have to cut somewhere behind the resonator and add on flange that can bolt the 135 axleback to it. Unless you cut both your mids and the axleback and have it welded on, which i didn't want to do incase i wanted to go back to stock(stock 135i exhaust)

Bumping this thread because I haven't had any luck in my searches.

Is there any sound difference between the stock 135i exhaust and stock 128i exhaust? Is there an existing sound clip of a stock 135i exhaust installed on a 128i?

Are there sound clips of other 135i exhausts installed on a 128i?

I'm looking for a good sounding exhaust note with medium volume and no drone. The 128i PE is on my list but I'm curious what other options are out there.

Edit: I found this thread but that's about all I've found so far

I don't think you are going to get much more of a sound output, because if I'm not mistaken that share a lot of the same baffling properties on the internal components. If you are looking for sound, I think you would be better off with a BMW Perf exhaust.

I know someone on here used the Berk exhaust (street i think) and was able to cut/weld it up....I was looking at trying to do something similar with this:

http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...fler-e828-135i

because unless you plan to pay an arm and a kidney, we have VERY little options for the 128

I had an exhaust shop modify mine to fit a Berk race axle back. Anything can be done with the right mechanic and money
