I have the shorter ESCO jacks and they are awesome. Highly recommended. Even those are higher than I typically need. Also, I have the "standard" flat top versions and have had no issues. They are plenty stable. I just didn't see the need for the pivot inserts.

Those ESCO stands look nice not only because of the nice amount of area on the top, but because they are lower than other jack stands (Specs say 10" vs 11"+ for most other stands)... My jack frustratingly lacks about 1" inch or so of vertical travel to get the jack stands under the car. I have to get the wheels 2" higher than the garage floor, then put some wood stock on jack pad so I can get the travel I need.
