It depends, not all cars were configured with folding mirrors. Some regions they all came with it standard and in other countries they didn't. Run your vin through the BMW vin search and see if yours came with folding mirrors. Hope this helps.

yeah it can be done, ive seen it on here or e90post before. You just need a new driver side window switch and the electric mirrors. Then you add some extra wires to vacant pins in the electrical connectors to the mirrors and run them to the footwell module. Plus you will need to reprogram the car.
Let me see if i can find the instructions. |

Has anyone successfully used that guide to add power mirrors?
There isn't many, if any threads around proving it works. Would love to hear from people saying it works, before I pull my car apart to fail miserably lol I would have thought this would be a very popular upgrade! |

I haven't done it but the guide does look very comprehensive and has images from a (what looks to be official) wiring diagram system. Not sure how good you are with coding but i'm in Sydney too (lower north shore) and i can do the coding for you no problem for you (its very basic stuff)

I did this successfully without the driver side window switch panel (extra button). Lots of guides say you need this switch, you don't, just the power folding motors in the mirror housings.
With proper coding, you can have them fold sans switch, even with comfort access. Be sure to check if you have the three pin connection (LIN Bus) on your existing setup. This makes the install much easier. I went from manual folding with heat and driver seat memory to the same setup with power fold and auto dimming outside mirrors. I changed the glass to the tinted blue EU concave style with just heat as my windows are tinted. The glass has the same four pin connector for the LIN Bus as the auto dimming glass. Two of the four wires for the auto dim just go directly to the heating elements In the glass. Everything looks great and functions perfectly. Hope this helps someone. |

If the language is not an inhibitor, below is a great German DIY where you do not have to run new wires across the dashboard, only re-pinning of connectors and possibly new wires between footwell module and driver door connector will do the trick. PowerFolding (requires installing LIN-bus that also enables auto dim and tilt-on-reverse en memory functions for the mirrors) DIY in German. |
