Anyone swap factory Brembos with 335i brakes?
I did a search and didn't see anyone that has done this. I just swapped my 330i front brakes for 335 brakes. The 330 front brakes just couldn't take the track. This took me from 330x24mm disks to 348x30mm disks. Not quite the 355mm from a BBK but given that it only cost me $200 on top of the disk and pad swap I needed anyway I'm quite pleased. Total cost with new disks, pads, rotors, and calipers was $540. I had BMW disks, PFC Zrated pads and Beck Arnley remanufactured calipers (semi-loaded with carriers included).
As you are aware the factory Brembos can't take the abuse of the track either. In the case of the 135i the factory 338x26mm can be upgraded to 348x30mm again for about about the same $540 total. Has anyone done this? Experiences? |

No experience with 335i brakes. I think the stock 135i brakes aren't so bad if you have the right pads, fluid, Ti shims and stay close to stock boost level. The good point about 335i size disks is they would allow me to continue using 17" wheels. I'd be concerned with single piston callipers, the pads may not wear evenly and end up getting tapered even worse than the ones in my 135i.

Lots of ifs in your reply. I agree that they aren't so bad. However, they aren't confidence inspiring. I'm certainly not suggesting the 335 brakes are the answer but I haven't seen anyone that has really sorted out their brakes without going to a bbk. I know for the 330 the swap I made is the answer. The brakes are powerful enough to easily handle the 130 mph I hit at road America. However, the 1 will hit 140+ in the same spots and that 10 mph makes a big difference in demands on the brakes.

The 335i brakes are great for the track. I know several people with 335i that still run stock brakes with no problems. If they can stop a 3, they can stop a 1 even better

my biggest concern is front rear bias which is why I wanted to know if someone was already running them
