Review: Riss Racing 135i Intake Plenum

Got it today, the finish is amazing!

Install took a whole 2 min.
Looks great under the hood.

Havent had a chance to try it out yet, but I have a feeling it will be awesome!

Here are some pics.

Not really. Most people tend to over clean these filters. Filtration performance improves once they have been in use a while and picked up a little dust. Naturally flow will decrease as the filter loads up but the one in the picture is a long way from needing a service by the look of it.

From the K&N FAQ:

4. How often do I need to clean my K&N air filter?

If you have not experienced a decrease in mileage or engine performance, chances are your filter is fine and does not yet need cleaning. To be more specific, the filter does not require cleaning if you can still see the wire screen on the entire air filter regardless of how dirty it may appear. When the screen is no longer visible some place on the filter, it is time to clean it. When used in normal paved road, street or highway conditions, our replacement air filters that fit in the factory air box should require cleaning every 50,000 miles and our large conical filters on an intake system should require cleaning every 100,000 miles. When used in dusty or off-road environments, our filters will require cleaning more often. We recommend that you visually inspect your filter once every 25,000 miles to determine if the screen is still visible.

Cheers!

Has anyone installed this with the other power steering bracket? It looks like it's going to be an incredibly tight fit.

Just installed mine tonight. I guess I missed it or didn't realize, but the quality is awesome! I was not expecting a metal plenum. I thought it would be plastic. I can see why you guys have such high quality control and don't release things until they're done. Nice to see. Can't wait to test it out tomorrow!

I got my Plenum today the fit and finish is amazing I was not expecting this to be metal I thought it would be plastic I was pleasantly surprised. The install took all of 10 minutes and was very easy. Now for what you all are waiting for. I took the car out for a ride and the increase in the throttle response and a increase in power can be felt in third gear above 3000 rpms and the increase is there in all the above gears when you run through them. The increased direct air flow to the filter is making a big difference in way the car is running I cannot wait to bring the car to Englishtown at the end of the month and see what I run in the 1/4. Riss Racing has done it again and made a great product I could not imagine going with another intake on the 135i thats for a great product guys.

Not much help, but it looks to me like the filters are in different locations. Silverbullet's is behind the reservoir. Is this due to the different brackets mentioned earlier?

Daniel at Riss has indicated that the reservoir needs to be moved. But Riss has yet to provide a picture of the proper placement that I've seen.

Aside from Dangerlucas, who bent his bracket and relocated it, I haven't seen any pictures nor heard from anyone that specifically stated they got it to work with the new bracket. In fact, I've seen few good pics of just the intake with the new bracket.
