Finally bought a house! There are a million things that need to be worked on, but obviously the garage will recieve some detail as well. When the time comes to work on the garage, Id definitely like to set it up so I can wash the car inside (only when necessary).
What would you love to have in your garage? I'd like some realistic ideas, that a normal working joe, like myself can afford. So far, I know that I want: Waterproof wall panels Floor Drain Ways to keep the dust to a minimum Mixing temp faucet for my hose Security Good lighting Heater I'd really love to see what all of us would love in our garages. Also, what other miscellaneous hacks would you like in your garage?? It's only a 1.5 car garage (19x13), so I'm not interested in hangout space.

I would want a four post car lift. You can find these used for under $2K installed. Just look in the yellow pages for hydraulic service/repairs. Those guys sell low mileage units.
I would also want the floor sealed with some epoxy type paint. Griot's Garage has a nice catalog with lots of ideas. Dack

Epoxy-Coat as a real good DIY kit that has professional stuff. That goes for around $1/sqft. You can add anti-slip adhesive into the flakes to help slip resistance
Floor Drain is a must, and IMO especially with your location add a gas-fired heater. You'll thank me later on that. I'd personally look for some T-5 4-lamp bay lights if you can afford them, if not go for T-8. There are some very good calculators online to see how many lights you need to achieve a specified footcandle at the surface. Light is key in detailing and will help show imperfections in the paint. |

Another good idea is to get a good filter for your water line. A friend of mine has this nice $200 stone filter hooked up to the hose/line that he uses to wash his car. He has to change this filter every two years or so.
something like this... http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...icks&refType=1 http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ater+filter.do
