Can't register 2010 vehicle in BMW USA.com

I'm trying to begin tracking my vehicle, but the production really hasn't started yet of 2010 models. But I have a Production # from my dealer....So when I enter in the production # into my bmwusa.com account it says only new cars can be added and that if you're car is in production it may not yet be entered. Is this normal?

Yes. When I spoke to BMW about this, they said they reuse production numbers so for now until yours gets "reset" or loaded into the system, it's not going to work on the Owners' Circle. I wasn't able to add my car until 2-3 weeks before I picked it up at the Welt. And then even when was able to add it, the information wasn't quite accurate. The OC isn't exactly the most high-tech, up to date site out there.

Who's paying extra? The car is the same price and some of the options are actually cheaper for 2010. Most of us who have ordered cars are paying $500-750 over invoice for first allocation cars that have not depreciated a penny upon delivery. Your dealer was also correct. While they could put you on a list, they could not actually order a 2010 car 2 weeks ago.

Yeah 2 weeks ago you really couldn't order one, only just this saturday my dealer was able to get me a production # and everything. Plant's closed mid august, so Figure production to begin Sept 1st.

I just called the 1800 # tonight, system says my car is scheduled for production with no set date. Will 2010 models begin build after the plant re-opens in september? Or before they close

I saw the schedule of plant shut-downs/openings and the 1 series start date was like August 14th. The earliest of any model. The 5s and 7s are the last to resume and they were the last week of August. We could see our cars in mid to late Sept.

BMW makes a great car, one like no other car company, but they really needs to get up to speed with the website side of life. It is really somewhat of a joke considering where we are in time. It is costing them more than they might even know.

They closed last week or 2 weeks ago. They're starting back up on the 14th (I'm going by memory but I'm 99% sure that was the date).

Maybe, maybe not. Some people look at cars like shoes, and if they are available, and fit, they buy them. I don't think the website is helping them sell any extra cars, if anything it hurts them. The site is better than it was 6 months ago, in a sense that it doesn't crash like it did. However it is far from interactive. How hard would it be for them to get a damn camera inside the car, and walk around it for some 360's inside, and out. It is 2009, and it is like they are stuck in 1999 or something. People expect to touch, and feel on the web, before they MAY ever go to the dealer.

Ahhhh, now I feel better...Rant over.

I agree, if they had a 360 degree tour inside I'd be looking it over all day drooling over it :P. I think it'd help sell MORE units, but I don't think that it has any "downside" on BMW's sales.

yeah, it was one of my biggest problems that my car never updated online until i have a VIN. big hassle with BMW NA and my CA

but to be quite honest, who gives a fuck about the BMW website and phone number? they are all delayed by about 3 days. you want the most up to date info? call your CA, they have instant progress. but i would wait until the second week of september to check

I just got an update from my sa - no production number. He sent me a screenshot from the system he uses. Too bad, but hopefully soon!

What is going on in this world today is having an effect on all sales... It is just the facts at hand. If BMW thinks that it would not increase desire, and sell more cars [w/real 360's inside and out], then they are the ones being fools about what people really expect, and want in today's market place. -JULY BMW SALES WERE DOWN 26.7% !!!

Hi all, new here, I placed my order for my 2010 135i last friday and had been wondering about the OC website also. Glad to hear it's not just me! Also really excited to hear they're resuming production in only another week or so. Woot! Can't wait for my 135!
