Berk Race axle back installed

Hey I don't post much, but I visit often. I just installed the berk technology race axle back on my 2011 135i. It sounds great, but its a LOT louder than I thought it was going to be. I uploaded a video shot with my gopro, hope it helps others in the market for an axle back. If I had it to do again I would have gone with the street version.

Why did you choose the Race instead of the Street in the 1st place? Several sites I've visited mentioned that Race isn't recommended for daily driving.. so just wondering how you decided on that.

Great sound nonetheless!

Thanks, I decided on the race version because I loved the way it sounded on youtube. Obviously I understood that only tells part of the story, but I don't know anyone in San Antonio that has a 135i. I am happy with the way it sounds, just have to learn to live with the drone.

sounds good to me just what i am looking for, i was not sure if i needed the mid pipes or not but that sounds just right. think ill go for the ceramic black to keep it looking standard.

HAHA! Word up.

I just wasn't sure if it wasn't recommended more so for the noise reason or is it something mechanical that shouldn't be run on a daily basis

Has anyone had any issues with the Berk exhaust rubbing or hitting anything under the car?

I just had the same installed on my 2013 135i Convertible and love the sound; however, I do get a little clank now and then (side to side movement) due to the driver's side cross brace. The Berk pipe is wider so the brace had to be spaced down a bit but the bolt is not that long so a few more washers might help although that may put too steep an angle on the brace: anyone else have a better idea?

Give it a few, you might grow to like it. My initial thoughts on mine were much the same; TOO LOUD WTF

But now I like the thumbs up I get, and the ridiculous happy sounds I get when I go WOT.
Now, when I add my downpipes, then the noise may be an issue. IDK yet.

Love mine too. After installing I swore I would put the stock muffler back on, but after a week I was too addicted to the WOT sound. Maybe I just got used to it, but i really think the sound changed for the better after a week or so, kinda settled, got broken in, if that makes any sense...

Wouldn't a mid-pipe upgrade from Maddad or even berk mid cure some of the drone? Also, if u were concerned about drone, Maddad's muffler-less axle back ( on paper at least ) says that it gets loud without the drone. I haven't heard any of these combinations in person though.

When I first got my berk race + berk mids I was also like holy shit this is loud. Driving it home on the highway I had crazy drone and vibration between 75-80mph. However over time it has broken-in and the drone on the highway is very mild. The exhaust note on this combo is amazing. Also take into consideration that I also have the berk mids. If I were to only do an axel back ONLY I would definitely be happy with the berk race. The only down side to the Berk race is that the cold start is pretty loud and could annoy family/neighbors, but that is all. I am going to get down pipes so I am going to end up getting the berk street. DPs + Berk mids + berk street = will hopefully be pretty awesome.

After a while carbon will build up inside the muffler, and the drone and overall song will become milder.
