I check BMW's press release site, but one needs logins and passwords for it from BMW. M3 wont be shown anytime soon |

These claims are BOGUS. I know there are those saying that the coupe will debut this week or next. Once again... these claims are BOGUS. You will see the coupe at a proper unveiling in Geneva at the car show there in March. Anything before that would be unofficial.

Only concept cars (E46 M3 concept, E60 M5 concept, Z4 Coupe concept...to name a few) are unveiled "unexpectedly" at autoshows. It's been this way for years. |

This may sound crazy, but my car is the e90, the coupe is still an e46, are they going to be e92's?

Do you have a historical list of such press release dates and how they coincided with car show debuts? That would be a fascinating thing to see in print at this point. I'm not suggesting that we will see a "concept version" of the coupe... I'm saying that the production version's debut will more closely coincide with the official unveiling at the Geneva show... not three months before.

North American International Auto Show ...!
The Auto Show is in Detroit and this year the Superbowl is in Detroit, both will happen within a week of each other. BMW could take this HUGE oppertunity to unveil something. -Garrett |

Model........Press release date......Auto show debut E90...........Oct 26, 2004.............Geneva, March 2005 E63 M6......Dec 14, 2004............Geneva, March 2005 E60 M5......July 2, 2004..............Paris, Sep 2004 E85...........Mar 22, 2004.............Paris, Sep 2004 E63...........July 10, 2003.............IAA Frankfurt, Sep 2003 E60............April 1, 2003..............IAA Frankfurt, Sep 2003 Why is it so hard to believe that a press release kit should be avaible months prior to the debut? It's very standard in the industry, all manufacturers do it, just not all the time. One of the main functions of a new model's press release kit is to attract both media's and the general public's attention for its auto show debut. In case you are wondering, my source is the files I saved from BMW Group Press - I used to work for an advertising/marketing firm hired by BMW Group. You can look them up to check the accuracy. |

I do believe you... that was the point in me asking. I don't have an organized archive and didn't want to have to dig through a large pile of crap. It's not hard to believe, I was one of the original people who reported that the press release was suppose to come out some time late Dec or early January. I also know that we often hear about things that don't happen when they were suppose to happen... in other words, things change. My recent posts stating that it won't be out until Jan at the earliest, but more then likely closer to the debut in Geneva, is based purely on recent conversations that I have had with a few of my sources... ALL of which are saying that we won't get anything until January... and possibly not until February, closer to the Geneva show.
