Got the Sedona Red 135i today!
Got the car this morning. Am well pleased.
Immediate comparisons with my old E46 M3: 135i is more comfortable, less rattly engine noise (but nice induction bark), less wind noise at motorway speeds and of course much more low down torque and subsequently, better in gear acceleration. Interestingly, there are no instructions in the user manual regards any running in procedure (none that I've found yet, anyway). I will be taking it pretty easy though for the foreseeable future and using part throttle and varying gears and engine speed as much as possible. Here are a few pictures: |

You lucky dog! She's gorgeous.
Interesting that the Owner's Manual didn't mention proper break-in procedure. (that you've found yet). I'd be out driving instead of reading too. |

looks really good in that colour....I am pleased you mentioned about the running in situation because i have been wanting to know if BMW gave us suggestions....
When i pick mine up in the next couple weeks i think i will just be taking it easy for the first 1000 - 1200 miles like i have done with all my previous cars.... |

Looks fantastic .
Can't wait any longer for my Sedona baby to arrive. The ship docks on Friday 7th, holding thumbs to get the car by end of March.

Thanks guys for all your positive comments.
I stopped driving today for short while and read through the rest of the manual and found the "running in" bit buried in the middle somewhere. Usual stuff: no full throttle and use varied throttle openings, gears and speeds for 1250 miles (2000 Km) and don’t exceed 4500 rpm. Then over next 1250 miles increase revs and engine load over this period etc... BUT, this really won't be a problem because the car has so much torque from no revs (anything north of 1,300 rpm) that even on 1/3-1/2 throttle openings the car accelerates amazingly hard (Feels way more than the quoted 295 lbft as well). I'll try and post a full report over this coming week to give you flavour of what you can expect. Finally, I'm glad I went for the Sedona red as the colour seems to change throughout the day - all the colours you see make this car look stunning Soon-to-be Sedona red 135i owners, you'll not be disappointed!! |

Did it say in the manual what rev limit you should go up to e.g 6000rpm in the second 1250 miles....or did it just say vary the revs

Thanks for your second post UK135i. I'll try and post again towards the end of the week with a more comprehensive opinion of the car.
WRT the run in period, no mention of any rev limit for the second 1250 mile period, just that you can continue to use more revs and throttle openings. In reality though, I supect that by the first 1000 miles your safe to push the car up to max power from time to time. I have always followed the running in period (varying load, speed and gears) and have never had any oil comsuption (even on the occasional track day) and the cars always seem to run very strong compared to friends with similar cars - no figure? |

Sounds good to me...thanks. I have always felt once you have been careful for the first 1000 or so miles you can do what you please and it has not affected my cars at all in the past running that way

Congrats!
Makes me jealous as I have still got about 10-12 weeks until I get mine How long was the delivery time from ordering to delivery out of curiousity? What options did you go for and any interior pics?
