I always like how Black BMW's look, but the though of rock chips and swirls marks make me sick to my stomach.

Is the top one metalic and the bottom jet black? Definatley think the Jet black looks better, i've got metalic black on my E46 and it just doesn't look black enough in some lights. I Guess Jet black is softer ond show marks easier though? Ah, the dilemma continues.....

those photos are a little deceiving because the sun is hitting the top one head on.
anyway the reason i chose metallic black is that when i stare at black sometimes i can't focus my eyes on the car itself.... they just see a sea of shiny black and there isn't a real form to the car ... the metallic flakes help to define the shape of the car to my eye. who knows...maybe i'll change my mind but i suspect they will both look great.

I just had that same thought while deciding to purchase the shadowline "shouldn't THIS be the standard option "

Yeah.. but then there wouldn't be enough stuff in the "Sports Package". It would be more like "Sports Item"
In any case, I'm headed for Jet Black as I decided to try and save some money.. Super clean Jet Black on a nice sunny day with Lemon leather interior will be a dream to drive..

Exactly, and the major reason I chose JB as it helps to conceal the unspeakably ridiculous sag at the bottom of the door. Having said that, a fellow co-worker actually likes the sag.:iono:

Anything that hides some of the lines on this car is for the better. I love the car, and much of its shape, but a few of the lines are just off...

You can add me to the list. Mine is on order. I know it's going to be a pain to keep clean inside and out, but it's going to be worth it!

I am convinced the car looks better in dark colors... they are richer, have more lustre, offer a much deeper shine, and as a result can show off the car's lines better, not worse, than a light color. No offense to anyone, but light colors look a little weak, IMO.
The black cars look more powerful and even just a bit menacing. My JB is on a boat and almost here. I'm drooling like a wild animal... LOL! Add me to that special list of those daring enough to go black! TM |
