Anyone ever heard of these guys? 255 hp / 221 tq are pretty much 330i numbers, but there don't seem to be any engine parts (intake manifold, etc) replaced. I'm skeptical...

An extra 10 bhp won't do much. The only reason why I would see someone forking over more cash for this chip is how it makes ur ride different compared to stock or PBX.
Just my 2 cents :P |

I emailed to enquire to see if this tune is suitable for the 125i and they replied overnight:
The E-Z Flash does not support your vehicle as yet. But I am happy to say that the release will be in the coming months after testing has been completed. I will make sure that once the product is ready, you are contacted. Thanks for the enquiry. Regards, Jeremy

Yeah, I'll admit it looks like BS to me. Never seen one so precise!

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum, so I decided to at least make it count. I frequent a few other automotive forums, including 9thgencorolla, k20a and spyderchat and read an incredible amount (I'm bored and intrigued with engines). The N52 has a ton of potential, as much of its' design follows in the footsteps of Honda with their K20 (k24); Variable Valve Timing (DOUBLE VANOS) and Variable Valve Lift (Valvetronic). The N52 improves upon the K20 (aside from the larger displacement) as it is a magnesium block, making it incredibly light. This, and the fact that N52 could easily be built into a high performance racing engine, is why I have decided to join this forum.
Anyway, to start, the graph has been doctored to look better. Notice how the blue graph lines to not match up with the numbers? Obviously, the graph is incredibly vague, and mirrors the stock numbers; as many people have rightly pointed out. Also, the bone stock dyno for this machine on a dynojet (the standard), would read much lower than advertised. Second, the price... $590 wtf? How much tuning are they expecting to do on a bone stock N52? They should already have a safe, yet aggressive, base map that they work off of. They would do some fine tuning for the specific engine and call it a day. You don't get into extensive tuning unless you have something worth doing so.... ie. I/H/E (intake, header, exhaust). If you don't have those three, don't even bother with tuning and go get them. Now I haven't read all of the stickies on this forum yet, so I'm not sure if you have a source yet, but a nice replacement header or exhaust would run you around the same. I won't talk about numbers, as I haven't seen enough information to understand how well the N52 accepts modifications. Third, the lines... straight... I don't think so. Can they increase the tq of your car through a solid tune, sure. Are they going to gain it evenly at equal RPMS, hell no. Look at the points of change on the graph, the two lines change at the same time and this just doesn't happen, there is usually some change to the left or right. Please refer to this link for an example of gains on a Stock Corolla XRS when tuned using a standalone ECU (as the stock can not be re-flashed). Notice how the parts of the graph show massive improvements in some areas, yet none in others. The N52 would be no different; there are simply points where improvements, without upgrading your engine parts, aren't going to be great. 4th, and it's intentionally ad-nausium, $590 for a re-flash! These guys tune all sorts of cars, which means they probably don't know any of the engines extremely well. In general, re-flashing your ECU is going to net you more area under the curve and probably not a whole lot more peak HP, but thats OK! It's always area under the curve that you're trying to gain, along with a nice flat tq curve for smooth power delivery. Before you waste money on a tune (which should cost you 100 or less), go get an intake and an exhaust at least. |

remember the 128i n52 is 230hp at the flywheel not at the wheels so any graph saying your car has 230 to start and 250 after is pure hyperbole. I call bullshit on this.

Why don't you guys use Eurocharged? I was the Beta for their N52 tune and it was a beast on my 328. It's not sold on their website but you can call or email about it and get more info. I think I was estimated to be running 255hp and 240 ft/lbs with an intake and catback at the crank.
www.eurocharged.com They are great guys to work with... Andy, Jerry, Gregg and Jake. |

certainly a lot of naysayers on this tune! guess the only way to find out is to actually give it a shot rather than bash a product none of us have actually tried yet.
a few of us down here in aus are waiting on 125i compatibility and will most probably be diving straight in if the numbers are similar to the 128i's final output. then we'll see |

However, from the response Cozza got, how can we be certain we're going to get those results if the flash isn't even compatible yet? I'm checking out Eurocharged tonight. |
