First... I don't understand these tease-er postings. Bc the OP almost always forgets to re-post later on. Secondly, I hope you bought your spark plugs thru a BMW dealer... bc the aftermarket spark plugs can cause a miss fire and driveabilty problems. Just do a search over at the e90 forum to see. Third, I hope you have the special 14mm 12point socket for said spark plugs. And a few socket extensions and u-joints for the rear plugs. G.L. Dackel |

Not sure, I will ask onefastman, it was his N54. I just took photos. Interesting you bring that up, because he gets a miss-fire on cylinder #5, both before and after he changed spark plugs. I will look into it. Obviously we had all the tools if we actually changed the plugs and are writing up a DIY.

I bought OEM plugs, what would make you think other wise?
And we had to have the tool if we replaced the plugs... Dackelone, fail in the deduction department

There was a thread on the e90 forum... that guy bought OE spec plugs (same brand and same specs) from some indi parts place... well... he had miss fires. I think he ecen replaced a few of the plugs again. He only solved the problem when he bought new spark plugs from a BMW dealer.
Also... over here many people say to change your spark plugs! just look at the warning label the PPK comes with for German spec cars... |

I just bought a schwaben 14mm 12 point spark plug socket. I read on e90post it fits without grinding it down and cost only $9.85 on Sears website.
Also http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...umber=zgr6ste2 has cheap spark plugs |

The only problem with that socket (one I have) is that the magnet in there is too close so it wont allow you to get the socket on the plug.
You have to push out the magnet but then you must buy one of those little rubber things that slides over the plug snugly to remove it. Its a bmw part and is just over $20 made by beru

I can see teaser threads for new wheels and such, but for a DIY??? And a week later, and still nothing??? I'm with Dackelone on this one. Thread fail, other than the pic that should have come with a NSFW tag.

I am curious too but it will be several years before I change plugs in my 128i convertible so I suppose I can wait. Mike Miller, writes the column for the Roundel, also recommends purchasing plugs from the dealer and claims they are different. When my time comes, I may have to buy one of each and look at them. It's hard to believe a manufacturer would put the same part number on two different plugs. On the other hand, when you only replace plugs about every 50,000 miles, it seems reasonable to just pay the dealer price (minus the BMWCCA discount of course).

Once all 6 sparks plugs are complete, double-check everything is connected, and start the car before re-installing the engine cover and cowling to make sure everything starts okay.
Here are some photos of the used spark plugs (shown left to right #1-#6):
