The GT cars will always be manual or at least offered in manual. Plenty of purists would kick up a huge stink if they stopped offering it on the track focused cars.

We have a socialist president who believes "the wealthy" should pay for everything. The trouble is his definition of wealthy has to do with how you make money, not how much you make and where you live.
Our economy is still struggling, but oddly, the US stock market has dnoe well. That's good because a lot more folks invest than the government wants people to know. (goes back to the weslthy! Only wealthy people invest... Umm, yeah, that is BS. I was investing in the stock market when I was 12!) FYI, on those new Porsches... The 981 Boxster and 991 Carrera have an available 7 speed double clutch transmission. I drove it on a number of their cars (Porsche is dong all sorts of marketing these days) and it is good for an automatic. But I am a stick guy. Just ordered a basic Boxster last month, with stick, leather sport seats and a cool steering wheel. And that's it. Probably one of the least optioned cars beijing sold in the US? It is nice though and the new chassis is amazing. Delivery in September so I get to wait. I did not realize the BMW deliberately charges a lot for cars in OZ. I always thought most of the extra cost was taxes. Sounds like some high end manufacturers need factories in a few major cities. That way the cars would actually be built in Australia and might end up being cheaper. Would bring in a lot of jobs too. |

Hopefully if the exchange rate continues to be around parity, our car prices would improve in time to closer to at least what Europe is paying.

Time to wake up and get out of the old times... Did you oldies also get angry when the computer came and made the type writer redundant?

This is true, but I know change is inevitable and this modern kind of change is usually to make things more efficient or better. Consumers don't really buy something that is slower or worse than its predecessor. I grew up using FWD cars but like RWD cars too?
I'm sure there are/were many people who felt the 'experience' in pressing the keys and seeing the fresh ink being placed on the paper in person love it, but there's no denying the modern computer is more efficient, faster and far more advanced in features. Don't get me wrong, I get how you can enjoy a manual, and if I were not using my car 7days a week commuting then I would prefer the manual too. Especially if it were a track car, but I don't and it isn't... |

BBK, the automated manual is gonna be it in the not to distant future for sure, but if I have a choice, the misses included, we will buy stick.
My e92 M was manual, so is the porka R, both has automated boxes, both were quicker in the auto and more economical, didn't worry us in the slightest, there was no decision to be made MANUAL it is. Another wonderful innovation today is this stop start tech, fark that, where is the zorst noise, gotta have that (and no I don't want piped artificial noises sent to the cab either). |

It is a difficult situation to fix, but taking more money from people won't fix the problem. Even cars, cause problems here. As much as I love German cars, BMWs in particular, they are a huge drain on Inez's finances. Even a modest new BMW in the US costs more than $30,000. To save enough to pay for that takes years. Yet most folks around our country won't use public transport, claiming that it is not convenient, uncomfortable, not timely, etc. If the current administration would look at the best parts of Europe and Asia, and try to change America in a way that benefitted everyone, things might work. But rut now, they are far more concerned with establishing some sort of social justice inspired community. This breeds contempt from the people who have or are trying to establish themselves, and discourages the least fortunate from attempting to improve their lives themselves. I happen to live near some people who are destitute by any world standards, yet the local government does nothing to help them improve their lives, rather, they offer them benefits that discourage them from even trying. Sorry, totally NOT car related! Bt, on a related note, I do wonder why BMW n particular want bring over entry level sport sedans to cater t young professionals. There is a decent market for a diesel 1 series hatchback, with many enthusiasts interested, yet we don't get that. Even lower cost, more efficient three and five series cars would probably sell in dense cities, but we get only the most expensive models with completely useless options. Where is our 635d Gran Coupe, 523d, and most importantly, 123d? Diesel is part of the fuel future, yet Americans don't see that, forcing to a world of automatic transmission/battery equipped hybrids that are expensive, and have terrible performance. Anyway, rant for the day! Reality is we Americans have it pretty good whenever I look at the financial situations in any other county. My little 1 Series cabrio would have cost almost $100,000 in many countries around the world, and because of that, I would not have purchased it. living in the States still means I have access to the latest, reasonably priced electronics, cool cars and relatively affordable fresh food, fuel, etc. when I get on the tax bandwagon, I still need to remind myself of that. |

In your travels, please keep an eye out for any NEW BSM 1Ms that are loitering in a BMW dealership... for me please.
I am all over the Carsales cars (presently there are 5 there now.. wow) but new cars are not permitted by BMW to be listed on on-line websites so unless I call all the dealerships, which I will do , you don't know. There was a loaded one in Bris but that went last week Anyway, any help would be appreciated. |

Well, we have a AW as ya all know, and I am not a fan of VO so BSM is it. I also love how a black car looks clean hmmmmm
Besides I had a Tiger Mica HSV back in the day and realized that it was the colour of the day, then it faded from grace as Holden made it a standard colour, much like BMW is doing, bastards. My Porsche and polo are on carsales, time for a change. |

Just make it the cheapest car on carsales and it will go. The VO one in Brisbane was sold to the dealer for 105 from a private seller (the seller had it on carsales and Brs BMW bought it off him), now they are selling it for 128k. There is no way it is worth less than a 105-110k. Good luck.

I've heard from 2 dealers that they haven't discounted by even $0.01 from sticker prices of ~$130k. Yet, usually they've sold the car within one or two days. This is as recently as last weekend.

If you paid $110K you have no options in yours. or maybe no stamp duties in NSW
