Actually I was one of the first people to purchase the car in june 05, the sticker was about 46k, then all that other bullshit was added (I could have got aftermarket from various other BMW online dealership stores). For some reason I was raped with the side moldings (Extra $700), as well as the alarm ($600). The eisenmann was $937, Thats $887 + the $50 (shipping charges).

For my vehicle, I didn't feel like waiting 6 weeks for the order, so basically the dealership (Habberstead BMW, Huntington, NY) did a vehicle swap with BMW of Manhattan I believe. I took delivery of the car within about 1 1/2 weeks.

Who else isn't really impressed? This is a forum for new BMW owners, so there are lots of wealthy folks on here I would assume. And I'm guessing most of them aren't consumed with letting everyone know it. Maybe you are the richest guy here (doubt it), but having $52K in cash quite positively does not prove it!

Let me restate my position: regardless of how much money you have, you shouldn't get the packages unless you WANT THEM.

I know lots of people with hundreds of millions. They dont need to flaunt it. You get to some point where you realize that its not a good thing if people know you got lots of money.

I dont mean to call you a hyprocrite here, but if you agree poldim's statement, why do you have a Rolls Royce Phantom listed as what you drive?

Yep and you stay true to this statement by driving a BMW.

I'm sorry, but if you really believed in what you said, your current vehicle would be a kia or Toyota Prius. Trust me I know people that are extremely wealthy and stay true to that statement. I guess in a sense you have to admire them. To be able to resist the tempatation that knowing they could buy anything they wanted to, but just saying no to that urge.

Wrong. Buying an entry level, second to the least expensive model of a BMW definitely doesn’t put you on the flaunt-your-money list. Simple things like that are just a matter of priority. Some people don’t care what they drive. One of my teachers had over 5 million from a lawsuit settlement that he received when his child was born with a defect due to doctor negligence. He drove an 89 Plymouth Sunfire. I only found this out after being his student of 4 years and at that point we had a pretty good relationship. I wouldn’t be able to do that, I might buy shoes from Marshall’s rather than Macys, but I will drive a car that I like because that’s one of my hobbies and I don’t really care about my shoes.

I don’t know of any wealthy individuals that would be driving a Kia, although I know a few with Prius's because they are pro green-engineering, not because they cant afford the gas.

well, other then the fact that it makes the 3 series look 1000000x better, probably the steering wheel, seats, and the handling.

Some people simply don't find the money a necessary thing to spend. Just because you can afford something doesn't mean you should immediately buy it.

Hmm, I can afford the deodorant which costs 89 cents more, but I think the cheaper one smells better (ride analogy), well I'll get the more expensive one anyway simply so I can show the clerk I can afford it.

All personal preference.

Some people actually pass on the sports package just because they prefer not to have it. Personally, I think if you had to choose between the sedan and the wagon and couldn't afford both then you shouldn't have a BMW.
Well said.

I didn't get a SP because of a harsher ride on routine basis. Even without a SP, it handles pretty well.

I did choose PP, as those are the luxury items one must have, if one owns a BMW.

One of my friends had to sell his new BMW because of SP because of bumps, he lost 10K in one year, he replaced it with the same BMW but without SP and got a PP instead.

podlim's quote in russian means "i'm russian, from moscow" and whatever translator u are using is not very good. When it translated "what does that mean?" the word "mean" is translated as "average". Lmfao
