Re-fitting stock air box, help needed!

Hi all,

Had an AFE intake on the car fitted, have removed it without issue.

Went to re-fit the standard airbox and filter and ran into a hurdle!
The rear intake hose wont line up with the opening on the box, and when forcing it to 'line up' it almost seems like the rubber hose itself is not long enough to reach the the air box (i.e. it just keeps slipping off and cant get it on far enough over the opening to clamp it down) Hope that makes sense? It's like that rear hose needs to be an inch longer...

Has anyone ran into this or can give any advice?

Have attempted to do this all from the top of the engine bay, wouldn't of thought I'd need to get the car on a hoist?

thanks!

Takes a little bit of patience and wriggling of the hose and some lubricant on the airbox.

Make sure the hose is going on squarely, as the underside can crimp during installation, and this will cause this problem.

Thanks for the response - was wriggling it for nearly two hours, had lube etc but still no joy. It's very hard to get a grip with all the cables/hoses in the way.

I'm wondering whether the intake piping has shortened over time because it just wasn't reaching

I used two long flat blade screw drivers as levers, on either side of the rubber hose to maneuver into place.
Also, try and fit and secure the rear hose before you place the air box in its rubber grommet position.
