Malta Hochalmstrasse (alpine road)
On Wednesday I went from work a bit earlier and headed to the highest dam in Austria, which is called Maltatal. The dam is at the end of the Malta high alpine road and the scenery there is just stunning. Here are few pics for you to have a look at:

Nice photos & nice car! This place is very close to the GrossGlockner Pass. Actually its hard to go wrong in this area for good alpine roads. Its in a national park area.
Here are some pics of teh GrossGlockner Pass - from back in July. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=grossglockner |

Thx for nice comments
The roads in this area are indeed very nice. I've been to Grossglockner last year and it is beautiful up there. Plan to do it again this year @goeslikeschnell: Sure, I'll send you high-res pics. |

Obviously with higher altitudes power decreases, but turbos still do their job well |

I think a turbo motor only loses a few % as your altitude goes higher up the Berg! A NA motor looses much more HP than a turbo motor does. I wanna say something like 10% loss vs 2% for a turbo motor - as altitude increases.
Btw... does anyone know of any other good mountain alpine roads in this area? The Alps. I want to go drive the old Brenner (brenno) pass or maybe some other old mountain pass road! Any ideas before the snow starts to fall and they close these roads down for the winter months? Stelvio pass is on my list - of must drives! |
