Hey mate,

that's cool.

I am glad you are now seeing the value of the kit.

Truth be told the dollar margin on the sale of these kits is minimal.

That is because we are not cutting any corners, all of the componentry is very much top shelf.

As hopefully illustrated by many pics.

Pete is not about making a quick buck, this will be the first of many N54/N55 based products to be developed by Advan Performance.

I have seen many of the Advan in-house designed components, that have been installed in several of the GTR's that grace the workshop from time to time, I can tell you that they are all of exceptional build quality.

All you 135i & 335i owners are in for a real treat come 2012.

Hey mate,

no this is not just an oil cooler kit, it is a "Complete Cooling Solution" brought to you by Advan Performance.

Very shameless plug I know.

A lower temp coolant thermostat is of no use in this application, as both the electric water pump and thermatic fan are controlled by the DME.

What tune are you running?

If it is a JB4 you will have the ability to enable the "Max Cool" function whilst you are tracking the car.

However I believe this feature is best served when you are on a cool-down lap or have pulled off the track into the pits to tinker etc.

I am a VISHNU Tuning PROcede fan boy, however this feature does not exist within the PROcede tune as yet...

I spoke to Adrian of VISHNU Tuning this morning and requested that he and Shiv add a similar feature to their tune ASAP.

Essentially with the press of a button, you will be able to ramp the electric water pump and thermatic fan to maximum speed, to futher prevent heatsoak of the coolant system when the car is no longer at "speed".

I've left Max Cool on permanently as of 2 months ago once it started warming up. It makes a LOT more noise but I'm used to it now.

I have to admit it's a very cool feature though and an easy way to keep the air constantly flowing.

Hey Paul,

thanks for the interest in the development of a cold air intake.

The CAI will be similar in design and function to the Dinan unit, however it ain't gonna' cost $10,000 like the Dinan unit.

Don't get me wrong I love the Dinan CAI, I have the very same intake kit on my car, but on a dollar per horsepower ratio, it sucks.

Advan's CAI will not be so expensive, yet I suspect it will be just as sexy.

However we will certainly not see this released until the cooling kit is a finished product and it is readily available for purchase.

With the summer upon us,

Peter believes that controlling engine oil and water temps is the #1 priority.

Cheers,

JD.

Hey Paul,

the flywheel was sorted some time ago.

I have quite a few pics of the flywheel Pete fabbed up in my "build" thread.

However I have had a long wait for the clutch kit.

I have gone with the new Stage 2 "Feramic" face clutch being offered by HPF.

Unfortunately there has been one delay after another, however I hope to finally see the clutch kit delivered to Advan by Friday, if not then first thing next week.

Hey mate,

I can confirm that if we had a minimum of 5 punters that would commit to a purchase, a "group buy" discount would be offered.

At this stage I cannot say how big or small the discount would be,

but Pete is certainly open to the option.

Haha,

cool mate.

Nothing like kicking off the New Year with a group buy.

FYI,

Peter and I are already working on a GB price.

The final GB price will be determined by how friendly our suppliers are.

However if we get at least 5 people that are prepared to commit to the GB,

we can certainly push Earl's and PWR to sharpen their pencil on the component pricing.

Is there an option to purchase a shroud (like the ER oil cooler)?
Hey gents,

here is a "break-down of pricing" on the various components.

- Earl's oil cooler kit, $1,125.00 (19 row core) & $1,275 (25 row core).
This includes all the associated components and the necessary hardware (brackets etc.) to install the kit.

- PWR "Street/Track" radiator, $870.00
This includes the ALL aluminium radiator and the necessary quantity of "Waterwetter" or "MoCOOL".

- Installation cost, $500.00

Guys please note,

the above prices are inclusive of GST, but exclusive of any shipping costs.

Lastly there is no shroud available at the moment.

I will speak to Pete tomorrow and see what he thinks about the use of a shroud.

Hey mate,

I have been told that you should allow around 6 hours for a clutch swap.

However this is with the car on a hoist and the "spanner work" being done by a competent mechanic.

If you are doing it by yourself on stands, I suspect it will NOT be a fun job.

I believe the only special tool you will require is the clutch alignment tool.

You can buy that online,

you should also be replacing the aluminium bell-housing bolts and most importantly the release bearing, aka throw-out bearing.

Cheers,

JD.

As Paul mentioned, our GST is equivalent to your VAT.

At this stage I cannot answer your question, regarding the use of a shroud.

We will evaluate that possibility once we have determined the exact mounting position of the oil cooler and the brackets are done.

Hey Gents,

I am very happy to say we are close to providing you all, with a finalised group buy price.

We have our revised figures from Earl's and hope to have likewise from PWR, prior to COB on Monday.

In the mean time here are a few more pics for guys to enjoy or should I say drool over.

As you can see the BMW OE oil cooler is a bit of a joke.

Cheers,

JD.
