2012 135i Order Taking Forever

Today is Monday April 30th, 2012. Today, is also supposed to be the day I drive home my brand new 135i. However, as of TODAY my order is still in 047 status. I ordered my car March 3rd, 2012, the order went in Monday March 5th, 2012. Dealer said I would have a production number within three weeks and the car should be in my driveway within 8. That is CERTAINLY not the case right now. Undoubtedly, I am very very frustrated. Dealer keeps telling me he'll "keep me updated." Too bad my order hasn't changed status for the last 8 weeks and there is certainly nothing to be updated on, which further aggravates me.

Is anyone out there having the same or similar issues? (I sincerely hope you're not, but if you are lets suffer together.)

PS: I'm attaching the build sheet so you guys can have a better idea of what's going on...

I'm experiencing waiting pains, too. I ordered mine on the 12th of April, and I thought it would already begin production by now. Actually, my CA said it would take about a week before production began. It's almost 3 weeks now with nothing changed.

I contacted my CA today, and he said he'd be able to give me a VIN later this week... He was able to give me a production number several weeks ago, but those are pretty much useless. I know that new MY2013 production starts in August, so who knows, maybe they are really backed up with builds of 2012 models before a month of downtime in July for retooling. I just want my car to be delivered before 4th of July!

I remember when I started my wait I was looking at the people who "only" waited 5-6 weeks as the lucky ones lol

Funny how lucky for me now means 10 weeks!

I'd love to see pics if you have any

Yeah I definitely feel your pain. I called up the food chain at my dealership because I was a little worried that it would get too close to June (for some reason I thought 2013 production started in June ) and he said that BMW would just "bump" me to the next model year. He then added, "after a price adjustment." So basically, pay more to wait more.

Let me know how your situation turns out! I hope production starts soon for you.

Don't let this get you down lol

There are plenty of people who have gotten there cars within 5-8 weeks. And who knows, with the summer coming up and the model year changing maybe BMW will kick it into gear to get the 2012s out the door. Best of luck to you!

Also waiting... Ordered 4/7, been status 112 for last 2 weeks, supposedly scheduled for week 20 build which is another 2 weeks from today. We will see. I was also hoping it would be earlier, but so far not bad.

At this point it has crossed my mind to maybe delay it and wait for the next model year. Any opinions?

I think pros of getting this 2012 order are I will probably get the car 2-3 months sooner and I'm sure of the options/price/etc that I already have and like. Potential pros of delaying for 2013 are options/colors I may (or may not...) like better and newer model year. Probably no really good reason to wait but what do you all think?

How'd you find out what your order status number and build week was? Do I need to contact my CA about that info?

Yes your CA can give you that. You can also get your status code from the 800 number if you talk to a person.

I think each dealer allocation comes with a pre-assigned production week. Not sure how much it changes after the order is placed?

Mine has taken 10 wks from order to port arrival (5/9/12). Then I expect, at least, another week for customs, trucking, dealer prep, PPK1 & Window Tint.

I put in my order on 3/30 and production completed on 4/20. Car is currently waiting for a ship at Bremerhaven. I think there is a back log of cars without enough ships as PCD told me it taking almost 6 weeks to get from Bremerhaven to port Charleston.

I read somewhere that BMW went with a new shipping company and they are waiting until they have enough cars to fill up the boat. I'm guessing a month and a half after production ends we will receive our cars. FYI..I ordered a 335i not a 1 series.
