The Grand Tour - last episode of the season was...
Been a big fan for years, but I feel like the show has lost its way, after about 45min of watching Jeremy, Richard, and James getting stuck on a dirt road I decided to cut my losses. WTF was that all about.
Top Gear by far has much better content.

Episode was okay, it was pretty much the same recipe that they always do so nothing really changed there. lol
I would've preferred that they just helicoptered in the food for the people or made practical farming equipment for them that would've actually been helpful. Instead they had rather dumb ideas on how to transport food to people that can't even afford fuel for the vehicles. They end up spoiling all the food and then helicopter out. Hopefully they actually did donate something to that village off screen. In any case I think the concept and execution for the last episode was in poor taste.

Forget the last episode, lets talk about the whole season. Where the hell did the CAR REVIEWS go? I feel like they drove about 4 cars all season. And Celebrity Face Off is nearly as bad as Celebrity Brain Crash.
Still love the show, but yearn for the BBC format. |

I also thought the season ender was absolute shit.
I usually like when the three of them go on trips together, but this one....Nope.

I haven't seen the latest episodes but agree it's just not what one would hope for. I was excited to see a show that was something like the old Top Gear with an even bigger budget and crazier stuff, but it's just not working out that way. I find myself preferring to find old Top Gear episodes on Netflix or Amazon that I haven't yet seen over the new Grand Tour episodes. I watch it but it's not the first thing I go for.

I dunno why they keep trying to ham it up so much, if they dialed up the seriousness and the authenticity a bit they'd win us over again. Too much stupid.

I thought it was hysterical. Hammond falling over on the bike was funny as hell.
You guys take it too seriously......

I have about three episodes left but have found the season entertaining. The celebrity interviews are much better than the previous season and I like the test driver better than the "American". I think they are still trying to find their way because the are subtleties missing such as comparing the actors time trials between episodes, i'm sure it wasn't allowed due to fear of law suit. Overall I definitely think better than last season.

Honestly, I thought that the last season of Top Gear felt like the same old shenanigans from the trio of middle aged idiots doing stupid things in cars was getting pretty tired. Trying to retread the series at Amazon had promise, but they don't even seem to be trying to do anything new, just the same old schtick just changed enough to think they won't be sued by the BBC. The whole move the tent around to different audiences around the world gimmick actually seemed like it might be interesting, but seems that was too much effort so they kept the thing in Clarkson's back yard all season? The Stig replacement with an unnamed female driver, again has promise, but they don't let her have any personality or offer any perspective ... whilst new Top Gear has Sabine. I agree with some of the other folks in asking if they will ever get around to doing car reviews. The new Top Gear does a much better job of that and seem to have assembled a cast of folks that have deep knowledge of cars, OK and Joey, now that they got rid if Chris Evans. Chris Harris arguably does better car reviews than Clarkson, albeit with not quite as hilarious analogies. They really should use Sabine more tho. |

I have a feeling season 2 got derailed by Hammond’s crash and clarkson getting sick. Most likely they just didn’t have time to setup the tent around the world and do the usual car review. The whole season felt it was stitched together. I still enjoyed it though.

This. Those were two pretty big schedule crunchers right there. If you ask me none of the 3 looks particularly healthy this year. |

Jezza isn't even 60.
Agree the whole season felt rushed/derailed due to the medical issues. I think the final episode was a direct result, like they had another plan that fell through and not enough time to put something together appropriately.

Agreed.
The first ep of the new top gear season was great, already shaping up to be better than the entire Grand Tour season. There was really only 1 episode I enjoyed in the last season of Grand Tour and it was the Lancia segment.
