Going to toss my $.02 in here even though nobody asked me to
Cali is closer to japan so they seem to go with those flamboyant styles more vs the east coast being closer to europe we tend to follow they're more reserved styling. Vdub culture seems to be about making your car as impractical and slammed as you can. While the super stretched tires look cool for show, they are far from safe and driving that way is about as safe as only have 2 lug nuts on a car. All in all there are hundreds of flavors of ice cream out there and no one is better than the other, as long as you're safe when out on the road, to each they're own. Always fun to see what people come up with! Jzhang, I'm not feeling the graphics on the car as they're too big and seem to go against the classy look of your car. To me it was like a fine Armani suit, and you tossed on a plaid walmart tie and handkerchief in the pocket. Your stance looks great in pictures and for show, not sure how it rides on a harsh street for everyday living. That's just what i think though. Ultimately though man if you're happy with how your car looks, thats all that matters. Keep it and keep on modding. Always fun to see what you do next

In my 10+ years on vwvortex, I have yet to see one issue with stretched tires. In my limited time on this forum, I've seen more issues with RFT's. Go figure. Also, the Euro trend is all about flamboyant these days... Check out pictures from the Worthersee show in Austria or some of the other big shows, most cars have 20"+ chrome wheels and gaudy paint jobs. Europe is a few steps behind the Fast and Furious trend. Here's a peak : The US vision of Euro is that it is clean and classy. I see nothing about Jzhang's car that is "flamboyant" aside from the stickers, which I am willing to bet were put on for the show for advertisement purposes. |

If anything, I would start shaving lines before creating new ones. That's why the front of my GTI was shaved (rub strips, side markers) and had the hood notch welded/ smoothed. No crazy kit, spoiler etc.. Just modified OEM+ styling. Last edited by Duckles McGee; 03-30-2011 at 10:48 AM.. |
