I ordered a 135i with the exact same options. It has been a month and production still hasn't started yet.

I am getting worried that the car won't be here when my current lease is up.

Seems like I'm not the only one on this boat.

dont worry i went through the same thing last year waiting for mine. my 1 actually became the very first 2012 model year 1-series to touch american soil when it finally did arrive. but the delay came from the manufacturing transition period at the factory which is usually between march-april. it's worth the wait!

i dealt with that a week and a half ago. i had to extend the lease 1 extra month on my lexus is250. Ordered the 135i on the last week of february and the car arrived April 21st. It was perfect timing because i ended up selling the is250 to a private party on April 20th. I had no idea the 135i was ready for delivery the following day.

Whenever your car goes into production, you wont see it at the dealer until 6-8 weeks after.

Your Dealer should've told you what the first production slot would be. They don't build as many 1ers as they do 3's. When I asked when the earliest slot he had available, he said probably June, I said ok. When I ordered my e92 in 2008 it took a total of about 9 weeks from order placed till delivery. I have another month before my build starts!

I guess if you go into the process knowing exactly how long you'll have to wait - then it's not a big deal. Who knows maybe I'll push to 2013.

I rarely see any 1 series in L.A. - I saw one today for the first time in months, and a beautiful 1M drive through my neighborhood.

Ordered mine on 12/15/2010 and took delivery on 3/4/2011... 11 weeks and 2 days. Not bad considering the holidays. Hope you don't get pushed clear out to a 2013. Yikes!

I heard the 2013 would be a 4 cyl front wheel drive ?!?!?!?!??

Help! lol
Only the hatchbacks are going FWD....the coupes and conv are staying as is. That was what I've read from various sources. Another thing to remember there may have been a parts supply issues for a 135i specific part. Something this complex it happens.

FWD version is still at least 3 years away, as the new F20 rwd hatch has only been out a little over 6 months.....

Just emailed dealer today, he's said he is having difficulty getting BMW to fill the order for 2012 since his slot was for June. Don't know what else could be going on... so we both decided to push until MY2013 which would begin in July. Let's see whats happens. These one series seem to be built at a MUCH slower pace then the 3 series. Very Strange.

I actually fantasize that BMW has decided to build some more 1Ms - I know they won't...
but wouldn't it be nice

So there will be a E82 & N55 engined 2013 then? Not so long ago the view was that 2012 was the end.

Wouldn't it be nice if they built some more of those 1M's though

We'll all know soon enough I'm just trying to be patient about the whole thing. It just gives me more time to fantasize, maybe I'll break down and just order a Z4

My dealer said a 2013 1 series coupe is a sure thing. The areas for speculatio are whether there will be a 135is (and what will it be like) or if the NA 6 will be available, as BMW wants to go all turbo on petrol engines.

My dealer said that the 2013 135i will be a 6 for sure because that is their performance model. The 128i will be the 4 cyl turbo. Which makes sense IMO. Just look at the new 328i vs. 335i.

I wish I had my car lol I'm in the same boat (or lack of boat) as you, still waiting. I just hope the 2013 is a RWD 6 cyl turbo as my dealer so adamantly claims it is.

Has your dealer been able to tell you what the 2013 will be with regards to the engine and FW/RW drive?

There's no way it'll be front-drive... That's what the Mini's for.

BMW wouldn't do that if for nothing else, just purely from a $ reason. If they
changed the same chassis from RWD to FWD they would have to re-cert the car for crash/epa and whatever else. That would cost a lot of money for a car with a 1-2 MY cycles left.

I wouldn't worry about it

Good point!

I actually stopped by the dealer again today, turns out my original CA "retired." So I spoke to another CA today (much more helpful) he said he try to contact the factory on Monday and see if he could confirm his theory: My car got pushed to a MY2013. Bittersweet I guess, I just rented a car for a month so I guess I'll see how far that gets me.
